For Bachelor alum Caelynn Bell, trying to get pregnant hasn’t exactly been paradise.

The 29-year-old, formerly Caelynn Miller-Keyes—met husband Dean Bell, formerly Dean Unglert on Bachelor in Paradise in 2019—shared the challenges she’s faced while trying to have a baby following their 2023 wedding.

“It’s hard,” Caelynn said in a March 19 YouTube video. “I’m putting way less pressure on myself than I was in the first few months of trying.”

After sharing that she expected to get pregnant quickly the same way that her mother did with her, she explained the emotions that have come with her struggles.

“I was like, ‘That’s gonna be me,’ and I was really disappointed when it didn’t happen,” Caelynn said. “So, now, I’m like, ‘Whatever’ and everyone I’ve talked to, they’re like, ‘This is meant to be fun’ and it’s going a lot better than it was in the beginning, ‘cause I was really sad and down.”

Throughout the process, Caelynn has tried to stay positive, adding, “It’ll happen when it happens.”

While she hopes that “nothing” is wrong medically, she said she’s still trying to “figure out what’s going on.”

“I am going to get some testing done,” she explained. “Same with Dean.”

However, the couple initially wasn’t sure if family planning would be in their future.

“When we first start dating, we didn’t think this was gonna last past maybe a few months,” Caelynn shared with E! News in 2022. “Through the years, we have grown to trust and love each other and more so be open to the idea of marriage and now family.”

But, through their journey together, they’ve come to realize they’re more ready than ever—which Caelynn began detailing in January.

“We are trying to start a family,” she said in a YouTube video at the time. “It’s on the vision board, which might be weird. I don’t know if that’s considered a goal because we are actively trying.”

Alluding to their fertility challenges, she continued, “It’s just harder to make a baby than I thought it would be.”
