Katie Thurston is sharing where she stands on her cancer journey.
The Bachelor alum, who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in February, shared March 24 that her doctors had found spots on her liver and were pausing her treatment plan, noting that if cancer is confirmed on her liver, she would be at stage 4.
The 34-year-old shared a new update March 25, writing on her Instagram Story that she had her breast, lymph nodes and liver biopsied in the past 48 hours. Katie also got a port placement—a device used to draw blood and give treatments that is placed under the skin, according to the National Cancer Institute.
She continued, “For now, we wait for the results of the liver biopsy to determine if I can still with my original treatment plan or if we reroute.”
In the meantime, Katie is leaning on her dog Charlie for emotional support, as well as her husband Jeff Arcuri—who she married days earlier in an intimate ceremony March 22 before she was set to begin treatment. Alongside her update, she shared a photo of them lying on the floor together at home.
“I just also want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, ‘My wife’s in there,’” Jeff, who proposed to Katie in September, told Us Weekly in a joint interview with Katie published March 23. “There’s more power to that. And I don’t want to be not with you for any of this.”
The 36-year-old continued, “I just want to be everywhere with you as much as I can.”
Katie added, “It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health. He is proving that he’s here to stay. He shows up every day and he does it in ways that just continue to surprise.”
And as she continues her cancer battle, Katie hopes her story can help other women, noting that breast cancer in young women is on the rise.
“Doctors, sometimes because of our age, say, ‘Oh, you’re fine, you’re fine.’ What I’ve encouraging people to do is tell your doctor to put that in your notes,” she said on the March 19 episode of The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast. “Very quickly, the doctor will be like, ‘OK, fine, we’ll get you checked out.’ Because ultimately, you have to be your biggest advocate.”
She continued, “No longer is it the standard of like, ‘Oh, only older people get breast cancer,’ because I’m proof that that’s not true, and there’s thousands. There’s so many women where that’s proof that that’s not true. And so I hope to see change in the future in terms of the mammogram age dropping or ultrasounds being more accessible for everybody.”

Dustin Hoffman
The two-time Oscar winner underwent successful treatment for cancer, and his rep confirmed to E! News that doctors deemed Hoffman “surgically cured.”
Hugh Jackman
The X-Men star was treated for his third basal cell carcinoma back in 2014, and after his third treatment, Jackman’s rep told E! News that he’s “all good” now.
In April 2023, Hugh had two biopsies for additional basal cell carcinoma. At the time, he told fans, “If I can just take this opportunity to remind you summer is coming for those of us in the northern hemisphere, please wear sunscreen.”

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star celebrated one year of being cancer-free in January. The mother of two was diagnosed with endometrial cancer back in 2013 and underwent a radical hysterectomy.
Then in 2017, Camille had surgery to remove Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of skin cancer.

Alongside a pair of photos that show a line of stitches running from the bottom of his ear to his jaw, which he later covered with a bandage, the British celebrity chef shared that he underwent a procedure to treat skin cancer.
“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma,” Gordon wrote on Instagram August 2025. “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend.”
