The Fockers are ready for Ariana Grande.
After the “positions” singer’s role in Meet the Parents’ fourth movie was confirmed, the original film’s cast including Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Teri Polo, shared more about what to expect.
“She’s so talented,” Ben gushed in a June 9 interview with NBC’s Joe Fryer, per Today. “She’s so great with comedy. Can’t really talk too much at this point about the movie but the character she’s playing, she’s gonna be really, really funny and the whole engine of the new movie.”
And when the interviewer referenced the Oscar nominee’s musical prowess, Ben and Robert joked the newest film—which follows Meet The Parents, Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers—will “of course” be a musical.
As Robert joked, “Half the scenes I have with her will be singing scenes.”
Meanwhile, Ariana is just as happy about joining the film as the cast is to have her. After the news broke last month, she wrote on an Instagram Story, “Very thrilled to be joining (meeting) the family !!!!!!!”
While exact details of the film’s plot are under wraps, the release date is set to be November 26, 2026—almost exactly a year after fans will see Ariana on big screens again alongside Cynthia Erivo in Wicked: For Good this November.
Ariana’s reintroduction back to acting has been enriching for her, despite spending the bulk of her career as a pop star. In fact, she recently teased she’d be prioritizing the craft following the success of Wicked.
“I think I love acting; I love musical theater,” Ariana shared on the Las Culturistas podcast in November. “Reconnecting with this part of myself who started in musical theater and who loves comedy and it heals me to do that, finding roles to use these parts of myself and put them in little homes and characters and bits and voices and songs.”
But Arianators don’t have to fret too much—she’ll still be flexing her whistle tone every now and then, too.
“I’m always going to make music,” she assured. “I’m always going to go on stage. I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise.”
