No, it wasn’t déjà vu: Beyoncé’s daughters took the stage and made the crowd do a double take.
The Cowboy Carter tour officially kicked off on April 28 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles—and the show was filled with surprises. Indeed, some of the best appearances included none other than Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughters Blue Ivy Carter, 13, and Rumi Carter, 7.
No stranger to the stage, Blue danced alongside her mother in a matching gold, shimmering outfit for “America Has a Problem,” where the teen took center stage and shined during her very own dance break.
Meanwhile, younger sister Rumi made her tour debut with the singer—who is also mom to Sir Carter, 7—and sister for “Protector.” As seen in videos shared to social media, Rumi stood in front of her mom while she wrapped her arms around her.
As for Beyoncé’s reaction? She became overcome with emotion as Rumi waved to the crowd before she turned around and hugged her mom, who stopped mid-song to say, “Beautiful job.”
And after grabbing her older sister’s hand to be led off the stage, Rumi turned around and gave the crowd one final smile and wave.
But Blue wasn’t finished, as she had her own solo moment dancing to “Déjà Vu,” which was of course, met with cheers from the crowd.
Bey’s oldest daughter is no stranger to the stage as she recently joined her mom for the “Beyoncé Bowl” on Christmas Day. And notably, prior to that, Blue made her big debut during the Renaissance tour in 2023. However, the Grammy winner was hesitant at first to let her then 11-year-old daughter take the stage in front of that many people.
“She told me she was ready to perform,” Beyoncé said in the Renaissance tour film released in December 2023, “and I told her no.”
However, after debuting her dance moves during “My Power” and “Black Parade,” Blue read the negative comments online, and became more inspired to crush it.
“Because Blue’s been born into this world, she’s been born into a life she didn’t ask for,” Jay-Z told CBS Mornings in October 2023. “Since she was born, she’s been in scrutiny and everyone has an opinion. Even [as] a little girl, how she keeps her hair. So, for her to be on that stage and reclaim her power, and the song is called ‘My Power,’ and it’s just—you can’t write a better script.”
