Billie Eilishis wondering what was that fake photo made for.
The two-time Oscar winner had some fun calling out social media users’ negative reactions to her red carpet fashion at the 2025 Met Gala on May 5. What made her happier than ever, though, was the fact that she wasn’t even at the event.
“Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala being trash,” Billie said through laughter in a video shared to her Instagram Story May 14. “I wasn’t there. That’s AI. I had a show in Europe thatnight.”
Indeed, the “Birds of a Feather” singer spent the night of the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”-themed benefit—hosted by Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton and Vogue’s Anna Wintour—performing the second consecutive Amsterdam show of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour.
“Let me be!” Billie continued in the video, while eating an ice cream cone. “I wasn’t even there.”
While the 23-year-old missed this year’s event after attending in 2021, 2022 and 2023, she wasn’t the only celebrity whose fans were duped into thinking she attended. In fact, fellow musician Katy Perry also addressed an A.I.-generated photo of her attending this year’s Met Gala.
“Couldn’t make it to the MET,” she captioned a May 6 Instagram post alongside the fake image and screenshots of comical posts from X (formerly Twitter) commenting on the supposed look. “I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL).”
The “Roar” singer also referenced a similar situation from last year when even her mom Mary Perry was tricked by an artificial image of her daughter attending fashion’s biggest night.
“P.s. this year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots,” Katy continued, “but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”
