Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez will be footing a prime wedding bill.
The billionaire Amazon founder and his bride-to-be are pulling out all the stops for their days-long Venetian nuptials, which has already included a foam party on his $500 million superyacht and counts stars like Kim Kardashian and Oprah Winfrey among its wedding guests.
To cover the costs of the wedding and all its related parts, Luca Zaia—president of the Veneto regional government, which governs the city of Venice—told reporters June 24 that he expects the couple to pay €40 to €48 million, approximately $46.5 to $55.6 million in the United States, per Reuters.
As for what all is contributing to the bill’s total? The answer includes multiple luxuries and charitable donations.
Bezos—whose estimated net worth is $238 billion, per Bloomberg—is expected to make €1 million ($1.2 million USD) donations to CORILA, an academic organization that studies and restores Venice’s lagoon ecosystem, as well as the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, according to Reuters.
As seen on the couple’s wedding invitation obtained by E! News, Bezos and Sánchez will also be making donations on behalf of the guests—which also includes Leonardo DiCaprio and Ivanka Trump—to the UNESCO Venice Office to “safeguard this city’s irreplaceable cultural heritage” and Venice International University to “support research and education for sustainable solutions.”
Beyond the charitable contributions, the couple has rented 90 private jets, 30 water taxis and the entirety of five luxury hotels—including the Cipriani, where George Clooney and Amal Clooneytied the knot in 2014—per Reuters.
And while ceremony details have been kept under wraps, the main party is expected to take place June 28 at the Arsenale, a historic naval yard in Venice that was built in the 12th century.
