Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez may not have asked for her RSVP, but Charlize Theron has a response to their wedding.
As the Amazon founder and journalist tied the knot in a star-studded Venice ceremony—which included guests from the Kardashians to Leonardo DiCaprio—the Mad Max: Fury Road actress cheekily poked fun at the festivities.
“I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding,” Charlize joked during a speech at her Africa Outreach Block Party in Los Angeles June 28. “But that’s OK because they suck and we’re cool.”
Meanwhile, Katie Couric also gave her two cents over Lauren’s wedding dress and subsequent Vogue cover.
“Welcome to the eighties—when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled,” Katie wrote under a photo of Lauren’s dress posted by Jack Schlossberg. “Apparently tacky is back.”
Charlize’s lighthearted dig about the guest list, at least, doesn’t come without merit. After all, many celebrities made the guest list for Jeff and Lauren’s big weeklong celebration. Earlier this week, Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King, as well as Tom Brady, Usher and many more stars were seen arriving at the occasion.
Fresh off his and ex fiancée Katy Perry’s breakup, Orlando Bloom also made an appearance and was seen chatting it up with Kim Kardashian shortly after the SKIMS founder arrived in Italy herself. But as for the “Never Really Over” singer, she opted to skip the event due to her schedule for The Lifetimes Tour.
Of course, Lauren, who invited Katy to her bachelorette party in Paris, made sure to send the Grammy nominee love from afar.
As she wrote under one of Katy’s recent Instagram posts, “We miss you Katy.”
And while Lauren and Jeff’s nuptials have proven to be quite the high-profile occasion, the 55-year-old previously gushed that her life with the Amazon founder in and of itself was glamorous enough.
“It’s the greatest experience I’ve ever had,” she told the Wall Street Journal in 2023. “We love to be together and we love to work together.”
