Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s touchdown-worthy relationship milestone has Andy Reid’s seal of approval.
Days after the couple revealed their engagement, Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs head coach celebrated the sweet news.
“I’m happy for them,” Andy said in an Aug. 29 interview with reporters. “It’s hard to find somebody that you fall in love with. That’s not an easy thing, to really fall in love. And it seems like they’re there. I think it’s a great deal for both of them.”
“They like being around each other,” Andy—who has been married to his wife Tammy Reid since 1981—added. “That’s a plus, I think. They’re both busy people in their own right. Both are very famous in their own right. It’s kinda neat that they come together and handle themselves the way they do.”
Taylor and Travis, both 35, announced the news of their enchanting engagement in a joint Aug. 26 Instagram post that read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The record-breaking post included pictures of Taylor showing off her massive Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond ring—designed by Artifex Fine Jewelry’s Kindred Lubeck—as she shows off PDA with her lover after he popped the question.
Andy isn’t the only member of the Chiefs Kingdom to celebrate Travis and Taylor’s love story. Indeed, shortly after the news broke, Travis’ teammate and best friend Patrick Mahomes reacted by resharing the post on his Instagram Story alongside three red heart emojis.
As for his wife Brittany Mahomes—who has become Taylors suite buddy during NFL games over the last few years—she praised the couple writing on her respective Instagram Story, “Two of the most genuine people meet and fall in love.”
The “Lavender Haze” singer also got the support of her best friend Abigail Anderson who celebrated the engagement with one word, “This,” and red heart emojis.
And while millions of fans joined the celebrity chorus of congrats to Taylor and Travis, it was his big brother Jason Kelce who couldn’t contain his excitement as he debuted the “New News” on their New Heights podcast.
“There is one gigantic piece of new news that just hit the waves,” Jason said on the Aug. 27 episode of the podcast. “We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis’ one day off so he is not here to address this himself but we felt necessary here as a team on New Heights to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged. The proposal heard ‘round the world, f–k yeah.”

July 2023: So, Make the Friendship Bracelets
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s love story began in July 2023, when the singer’s Eras Tour made a stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
As a huge Swiftie, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end caught the show with hopes of giving Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it. However, he failed to complete the pass due to her pre-show rituals.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis shared on the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast. “So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
Summer 2023: This Is Him Trying
After publicly recounting his fumble—a move Taylor would later describe as “metal as hell”—Travis decided to shoot his shot and invite the Grammy winner to watch the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium.
“I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” he shared on The Pat McAfee Show. “I told her, you know, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.’ So, we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

Travis was rocking a mustache—which he debuted in August during training camp—when he was first introduced to Taylor.
