And now, Chris Appleton to present the award for outstanding hair on the Emmys 2025 red carpet.
Of course, the celebrity hairstylist, who handles the tresses of everyone in Hollywood from Kim Kardashian to Nicole Kidman, couldn’t decide on just one ‘wow’ moment.
“I do love an old school, glamorous look,” he told E! News in an exclusive interview Sept. 15. “I love Sydney Sweeney’s hair, it always looks really beautiful. Very glossy, very healthy.”
But while he loved the Anyone But You star’s very simple down hairstyle, Chris also appreciated the more effortful styles, such as Selena Gomez’s updo. As he put it, “It was a slicked back ponytail, that really rich brunette shined through.”
The 42-year-old also had to shout out one participant of chic bob summer, noting Michelle Williams also made his best hair list, adding, “The color had a rooty vibe, which is really popular right now.”
As for overall hair health, he noted that BlackPinksinger Lisa has clearly been focusing on conditioning, noting, “Lisa always looks very romantic, kind of soft.”
While Chris is obsessed with style and health when it comes to hair, he’s just as tuned into color, given he’s the Schwarzkopf Global Color Ambassador.
And since fans may be looking to copy some of the Emmys 2025 attendees’ autumnal hair colors this season, he emphasized to book an appointment at a salon, rather than reach for that box dye during your next trip to the pharmacy.
“You have to speak to a professional to get the advice that really suits you,” Chris explained. “To do that, you need to look at a few things, eye color, you need to look at skin tone, and even what I like to do is to look at personality types.”
Indeed, the saying goes that blondes have more fun—but Chris posits that you may have less fun as a blonde, noting that his client Jennifer Lopez is self-proclaimed to be among that demographic. But, ultimately, it’s about what works for you.
“There are rules you can break,” Chris continued. “I think that’s why you need to work with a professional that can steer you in the right direction and help you create that magical masterpiece at the end.”
As for when it comes to maintaining that glossy shine á la Sydney’s natural-looking Emmys blonde, the hairstylist noted that Schwarzkopf’s IGORA Vibrance toner is a must-have in his style tool kit.
“It gives you that really beautiful finish, that high shine, glossy look which always captures on cameras on red carpets and really makes it sparkle,” Chris said. “So that’s my little go-to red carpet secret.”
