Ciara is making it’s clear she’s still Russell Willson‘s No. 1 fan.
After the NFL veteran was replaced as the New York Giants’ starting quarterback just three games into the season, with rookie Jaxson Dart stepping into the role, his wife expressed her support for him.
Shortly after the news broke Sept. 23, Ciara shared a photo of herself with her and Future Zahir, 10, Sienna, 7, Win, 4, and Amora, 22 months, on her Instagram Stories, writing, “We love you so much.”
To which Russell—who led the Giants to a 0-3 start this season—reposted with a message of his own, gushing, “My why! Love you guys @ciara.”
As for how the 36-year-old is feeling about his new role on the team? He’s looking to be a playmaker for the Giants, on and off the field.
“I’m focused on helping this team win,” he said while speaking with reporters Sept. 24. “I’m focused on helping Jaxson. I’m focused on me getting ready to be the best version of me today on Wednesday. I want to be here. I love this organization. I love the process of it all, I love the guys in the locker room. I’m not giving up on us in this season.
In fact, Russell doesn’t believe it’s time for him to hang up his cleats.
“For me personally, I’m not done,” he emphasized. “I’ve got so much belief in myself and I know what I’m capable of. I know I can help this football team if that comes up.”
After previously playing for the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, Russell—a 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback—had signed a one-year contract worth $10.5 million with the Giants in March.
And with whatever is next for him, he’ll have Ciara by his side as the singer—who is often joined by their kids at his practices and games—previously shared insight into how they show up for one another in both their careers and in their lives.
“Even being able to support him, like that connection that you build with supporting each other on your journeys, it’s incredible,” she shared on Today earlier this year. “[I] feel like every day we’re evolving our love by how we’re committed to supporting each other and just committed to each other. We’re a team.”
