Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys play out a dangerous game of cat and mouse in Beast in Me, which dropped its trailer on Thursday.

The acclaimed actors’ characters are brought together by geography in the eight-episode Netflix series in which Rhys’ Nile — previously suspected of killing his wife — moves in near Danes’ Wiggs, a grieving author.

Here’s the logline: “Since the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes) has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth — chasing his demons while fleeing her own — in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.”

All eight episodes of the 20th Television series release on the streamer Nov. 13.

Brittany Snow and Natalie Morales round out the main cast, along with guest stars Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison and Julie Ann Emery.

The series, which Netflix picked up in 2024, marks a reunion between Danes and Homeland showrunner Howard Gordon (24, The X-Files), who is the showrunner, writer and executive producer; Gabe Rotter (The X-Files) is the creator, writer and executive producer. Danes also executive produces, along with director Antonio Campos, Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger for Conaco, Caroline Baron and Jodie Foster.
