Alicia Hannah-Kim asked authorities to step in after an encounter with Cobra Kai costar Martin Kove.
Indeed, the actor was escorted out of June 22’s Summer Con event in Puyallup, Wash., after he allegedly bit Hannah-Kim on the arm, as seen in a police report obtained by E! News.
According to the responding officer’s report, Hannah-Kim said she had approached her booth and “tapped Martin Kove on the shoulder to say hello” at which point he “suddenly grabbed her arm and bit her upper arm so hard it nearly drew blood, and she yelled out in pain.”
“Once Martin Kove finished biting her arm, he grabbed her arm again and began kissing it where he had bit her,” the officer continued, adding at the time of the report, “Alicia had a very noticeable bite mark on her arm that was already turning blue and bruising.”
Hannah-Kim then said she approached her handler and husband Sebastian Roché who went to speak with Kove about the incident. “I was told Martin Kove exploded on them,” the officer noted, “saying something to the effect of how dare they confront him, and he did not do anything wrong.”
It was at that point Hannah-Kim found the officer onsite at the venue and asked him to come monitor the situation.
After the officer engaged the group, he wrote that “Martin Kove admitted to biting Alicia’s arm and said he did it out of jest and he thought he was being funny, and they play fight all the time on the set of Cobra Kai, and he did not think it was a big deal.” Hannah-Kim in turn, per the officer’s report, explained that Kove had “legitimately caused her pain and that what he had done was illegal.”
The officer informed Kove—who reportedly said “that he did not mean for it to be perceived as illegal, and he was just messing around”—that the incident was being investigated as an assault and he could be “booked into jail or issued a citation for his unprovoked biting and kissing of Alicia” at which time “he began apologizing.”
According to the report, Hannah-Kim informed the officer she did not want to “pursue charges but wished to have a report filed in case this continues.” The officer wrote that he was eventually informed “that Martin Kove was being sent home and would not be at the event any longer due to his behavior.”
The officer noted he then found Kove before the actor left the venue and noted that while Hannah-Kim did not want to press charges, Kove “did indeed break the law according to the State of Washington and this behavior will not be tolerated in the future.”
The 78-year-old, according to the report, declined to provide a voluntary handwritten statement and thanked the officer before being escorted out.
The officer reiterated, “Martin Kove also told me that on set Alicia and him playfight all the time on set and he thought this was a playful thing to do.”
E! News has reached out to reps for Kove and Hannah-Kim for comment but has not yet heard back.
Following the incident, Kove shared a statement wit TMZ apologizing for his actions.
“I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia,” he told the outlet, “a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position.”
He noted he thought he was “being playful in the moment” but acknowledged he “went too far and there is absolutely no excuse.”
He concluded, “I regret my actions for which I take full responsibility for what I did, and again I apologize to her and her husband. I’m committed to learning from this and it will never happen again.”
