You couldn’t ask for more from Demi Moore‘s Met Gala look.
The Substance star went all out for the 2025 Met Gala on May 5, stunning on the red carpet in a black and white striped Thome Brown gown that resembled a tie. Indeed, with the knot forming around her sternum and the neck of the tie forming in a dramatic structured wrap that hovered around the back of her head. Letting her outfit to all the talking, she kept her signature dark tresses up in a low bun. (Click here to see all the celebrity guests at the ball.)
Not to be outdone, this year’s celeb co-chairs for the event—themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—are also tailored to perfection, with A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton and Pharrell Williams joining Vogue‘s Anna Wintouras hosts (while honorary co-chair LeBron James sat this one out due to an injury).
As for Moore, the 62-year-old has been a Met Gala staple for over 25 years, notably attending with designer Donna Karan for the opening of the 2001 exhibit “Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years, Selections from the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum.”
At the time, the actress—who shares daughters Rumer Willis, 36, Scout Willis, 33, and Tallulah Willis, 31, with ex Bruce Willis—modeled a gold goddess gown with a draped shoulder detail.
In the years since, she’s proven that less is more when it comes to color, often rocking gunmetal or black gowns on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
And after nailing so many red carpet appearances, she’s also refined her stance on beauty and aging in Hollywood.
“I also have thought recently about this idea that aging and being old are not the same thing,” she explained at the TIME100 Summit in April, per The Hollywood Reporter. “And somehow we’ve confused that and that aging actually is a tremendous gift.”
That’s one reason the Ghost star was drawn to her Golden Globe-winning role as the fictional former movie star Elisabeth Sparkle in 2024’s The Substance.
“The beauty in this is that we all understand that there has been the circumstances of women being marginalized at a certain age,” she told E! News at the 2025 Golden Globes in January. “But for me, the most captivating was the exploration of the violence and harshness we can have against ourselves, because that is within our power to shift, because how we hold ourselves is everything.”
Moore added of breaking the aging stereotypes, “The reality is, that’s existed, but we as women have bought into it, and when we change how we hold ourselves, then I think the world will follow.”
And she’s not afraid to show her own signs of aging either. In fact, she recently admitted that she wouldn’t rule out going gray in the future.
“Oh 100%. I look at women who have that incredible gray, especially long, and I think it’s striking,” Moore told People in April. “I would definitely do it.”
