Janet Caperna is tuning out the haters.
The Valley‘s Jesse Lally shot down speculation that his costar recently fled the country after receiving backlash on social media amid the ongoing drama currently playing out of the Bravo series’ second season.
“I love the ‘fled’ thing,” Jesse reacted to the rumors during the July 8 episode of SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show. “I will confirm this now. They called me—one of my best friends lives in Zurich—and they were talking about summer vacations, going to Switzerland, maybe Lake Como. I gave them recommendations. That was a planned vacation. That was much needed.”
And Jesse thinks Janet, her husband Jason Caperna and their 18-month-old son Cameron deserve the much-needed summer getaway, whether they are trying to escape the online chatter or not.
“I mean, Switzerland would be a good place to flee to,” the real estate mogul jokingly added. “I would do that right now if I could.”
Jesse also weighed in on the polarizing reaction fans have had towards Janet throughout the show’s two seasons.
“The thing about Janet, I think, the reaction from the crowd is, ‘What do we know about Janet and Jason? What made Jason choose the law? What is this story with Janet’s past marriage? Where did she come from?'” Jesse noted. “All of those questions we don’t know the answers to because it’s just constant sort of involving yourself in other storylines instead of creating your own storyline. I think if there were these storylines, maybe there’d be some vulnerability with them.”
Plus, after Janet inserted herself in the feud between Kristen Doute and Jesse’s estranged wife Michelle Saniei during the June 24 episode, Jesse added of the backlash, “Right now, people are just reacting to her constantly trying to be involved in these dramatic situations.”
“People are really drilling her with that one,” he continued, “and it’s true: She didn’t need to be involved in that conversation.”
Jesse’s comments come one week after Janet made her Instagram private following the social media hate.
“It’s gotten so dark and bad almost on a daily basis of threats and slurs and things that now I decided to make all of my social media completely private,” she said on the July 2 episode of her This Side of the Hill podcast. “[I’m] being very cautious about what I share, especially about my family…If you’re feeling so bothered by [The Valley] that you’re using racial slurs and threatening people, reality TV is not for you.”
See the drama continue to play out when The Valley airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Bravo. In the meantime, keep reading for a preview of the cast’s season two reunion looks.
