Chase Sui Wonders is ready to slay her next TV role.
The Studio star—who walked the 2025 Emmys red carpet in a black off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown—is set to star alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar in Hulu’s upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, and she had only high praise for her costar’s reprisal of the iconic small screen heroine.
“Sarah Michelle Gellar is such an icon,” Chase exclusively told Live From E!: 2025 Emmys host Zuri Hall at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles Sept. 14. “She’s back and she’s really deep in the weeds.” (See every star who walked the red carpet here.)
The 29-year-old also noted that Sarah isn’t the only power player involved in the highly-anticipated sequel series.
“Chloé Zhao—incredible filmmaker, one of the greatest we’ve got around today—is at the helm, and it’s fun,” she continued. “I had a lot of fun.”
Rumors of a Buffy reboot have circulated many times since the TV drama concluded its seven-season run in 2003, but nothing ever came to fruition. However, Sarah previously explained why the Oscar-winning director’s interest in the project finally made her consider playing Buffy Summers again.
“For so many years, I said no to a possible return of the series,” the 48-year-old said in an interview with Vanity Fair in June. “I didn’t want to reintroduce something we had already seen. I waited for the right time to come. Then Chloé, a big Buffy fan, proposed the project to me, and I accepted.”
And while fans can expect a healthy dose of nostalgia, the pair still want to bring something new to the beloved franchise.
“We will try to find a balance between new and old characters,” Sarah went on. “My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”
