Even though he’s not at the Emmys 2025, Mike White is still living a very comfortable life.
After all, Parker Posey—who played wealthy housewife Victoria Ratliff in season three of the HBO show—exclusively told Live From E!: 2025 Emmys correspondent Heather McMahan at the Sept. 14 award ceremony that the showrunner is “in the south of France now, so that’s where season four’s gonna be.” (Click here to see all the celebrities on the red carpet.)
However, the 56-year-old—who was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her work on the HBO series—added that her character’s fate is still up in the air. As she put it of the upcoming season, “I have no idea if I’m in it.”
So far, each season of The White Lotus has been set at a fictitious hotel in a different location—beginning with Hawaii in season one, followed by Italy and Thailand for its second and third installments, respectively. But earlier this year, producers hinted that season four may be returning to continent the show previously explored.
“We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” executive vice president of HBO programming Francesca Orsi told Deadline in February. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe.”
In addition to a change in scenery, the dramedy may be veering away from its signature visual elements as well.
“For the fourth season,” Mike shared in an HBO Max video in April, “I want to get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular.”
Still, the 55-year-old noted, “There’s always room for more murders in the White Lotus hotels.”
