Shabana Azeez is folding her hand.
After all, The Pitt actress revealed the very relatable reason she refuses to attend game night with the cast and crew, including costars Noah Wyle and Fiona Dourif.
“Keep me the f–k away from the poker nights,” Shabana exclusively told Live From E! at the 2025 Emmys red carpet on Sept. 14. “Stop inviting me to the poker nights. I don’t want to lose money to my boss. I have no interest in that. I would lose so much money.”
“They’re all sharks,” she teased. “I don’t need to get robbed and then go to work the next day. You can’t gamble with the producers. It’s dangerous.”
But that doesn’t mean the 28-year-old—who arrived at the 77th annual ceremony at Peacock Theater in a red Marchesa Couture gown—won’t spend any time with her costars. (See all the stars on the red carpet here.)
In fact, she told host Zuri Hall that Noah—who is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, alongside the HBO show’s Outstanding Drama Series nomination and Katherine LaNasa’s Outstanding Supporting Actress—had taken her “under his wing in a really wonderful way in season one.”
“This season, he’s directing,” she explained. “On my days off, I came and shadowed him on set and he taught me. I got to see him as a director and an actor and an EP and writing all at the same time. He’s a beast.”
Looking back at The Pitt’s success, Shabana was grateful for the show’s slow but steady rise to popularity.
“Season one was a real incubator,” she reflected. “Nobody knew who we were. Nobody knew about the show. Nobody cared. So, it was just really chill.”
“It’s really changed now,” she continued. “We’re shooting full-time still, so we’re doing this. It’s like 12-hour days and then a party. So it’s a very intense part of L.A. that I’ve never seen before.”
Nonetheless, she emphasized, “I’m very grateful to be here talking to you and grateful to experience it with a show like The Pitt with this much social impact.”
