For Eva Longoria, having her son Santiago by her side has been a chef’s kiss.
But with a growing 6-year-old boy, it’s not always easy. Thankfully, the Desperate Housewives alum has a close circle of loved ones to help out since she and husband José Bastón began splitting their time between the United States, Mexico and Spain.
“We have a whole traveling circus,” Eva exclusively told E! News at the premiere of her upcoming show Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain in New York City. “The teacher is with us. My family’s with us—my sisters, my mom, my husband.”
The actress, the youngest of four sisters, emphasized that she has “as much of the village as possible” with her while they travel.
Meanwhile, Santiago would definitely give their unique lifestyle three Michelin stars. As Eva put it, “He loves it. He’s well-traveled.”
Luckily, he’s always down to tag along with his mom. “For him, home is where I am,” the 50-year-old added. “He just loves being with me.”
As for when Eva and José, who tied the knot in 2016, choose where they’re staying at a given time? It simply depends on where their work takes them.
So, it was only fitting that Eva, who is Mexican-American, explored Spain to learn more about her ancestral ties to the European country in her new CNN show airing April 27.
“Eating and drinking my way through Spain was a fun experience, but visiting my ancestral land of Asturias was pretty special to me,” she gushed. “I got to go to my ancestral home, share a meal with distant cousins, talk about the land, and talk about the industry that’s in that region. Just being immersed in the Spanish culture and the way of living was a gift.”
As Eva and Santiago travel around the world, she makes sure to keep all parts of their heritage alive. For instance, she always keeps a statue of Mexico’s patron saint, La Virgen de Guadalupe, in their home.
“Santi wakes up and runs and he prays with us and he kisses La Virgen every morning,” she told E! in 2021. “If I forget, he’ll tell me, ‘Oh, you didn’t—you didn’t kiss her!'”
“There’s so much tradition just steeped into our daily rituals and I love it,” she continued. “It’s a beautiful thing to continue to pass on and to continue to celebrate.”
