Former Netflix exec Teresa Moneo has joined Mike Goodridge’s London-based production outfit Good Chaos as creative director and producer.
Moneo, who resigned earlier this year from her role as director of U.K. film at the streaming giant, said she has “profound respect” for the worldview of Goodridge, who set up Good Chaos after stints in charge of Protagonist Pictures and the Macao Film Festival.
“We have similar values,” said Moneo. “I could not be happier than to partner with him at Good Chaos for this new challenge as an active creative producer and the freedom to build on the existing slate.”
Goodridge added: “Teresa is one of the best creative minds I know and I am honoured that she has chosen to land in independent production at Good Chaos after leaving Netflix. She will bring so much wisdom and expertise to bear in the continued growth of the company as well as across our existing and future projects.”
Moneo will work closely with Goodridge and head of development Catriona Renton on the company’s slate while steering the creative path for Good Chaos going forwards.
At Netflix, Moneo was the first European hire for original film strategy, and commissioned and supervised projects from development through production to launch on the service, with primary responsibility for the Italian, Spanish and pan-European film strategies and, ultimately, U.K. strategy. Among the titles she was responsible for and oversaw are Oscar-nominees The Hand of God by Paolo Sorrentino, Society of The Snow by J.A. Bayona, and, recently, the Good Chaos production Ballad of a Small Player and the upcoming Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
Moneo began her film career at Miramax, moving up to senior vp of production and then executive vp, production at Focus Features. In January 2016, she joined Pathe Productions as creative consultant, and took up her Netflix role in March 2019.
The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Goodridge ahead of the Venice Film Festival, where he unpacked the Good Chaos and taking anything Donald Trump says “with a pinch of salt.”
