Fox News Promotes Bill Melugin to Congressional Correspondent

Fox News has promoted one of its rising star reporters, naming Bill Melugin congressional correspondent.

Melugin had been the channel’s Los Angeles correspondent, where he frequently covered issues related to immigration and border security. he also, of course, covered the devastating wildfires that ripped across southern California earlier this year.

“If I grew up in Minnesota and had to come out here to cover the fires, I’d have no idea what I was doing or where I should be going,” Melugin, who was raised in Orange County, told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “But if you grew up in SoCal, you grew up with fire. When I was 3 years old, we had the Laguna Canyon Fire in ’93 that almost burned our house down.”

Melugin is relocating to Washington D.C. and will start covering Congress immediately. The beat is one of the most important for any news organization given the outsized role Congress plays in setting the policy agenda.

“Bill’s dogged dedication to uncovering the story and deep understanding of national issues make him an excellent fit to cover the complex world of Congress,” Fox News president and executive editor Jay Wallace said in a statement.

“Congress is one of the most compelling and consequential beats in journalism and it is an incredible honor to take on this role and continue to serve our viewers from Capitol Hill,” Melugin added.

Melugin joined Fox in 2021, and previously worked for Fox’s L.A. station KTTV, and Fox stations in North Carolina and Texas.
