Halle Bailey’s Met Gala 2025 Look Is Shinier Than Any Dinglehopper

Watch:Met Gala 2025: Dress Code and Star-Studded Host Committee Revealed

Halle Baileyhas glamour and gizmos aplenty at the 2025 Met Gala.

The Little Mermaid star attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Benefit in New York City May 5 and proved exactly why she’s a key part of the fashion world.

The 25-year-old donned a sparkling black and white split Coach tuxedo-inspired mini dress with a dazzling silver bodice peaking from under the satin lapels. Leaning further into the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme’s “Tailored for You” dress code, she wore a black net veil adorned with small gems. She also completed her look by wearing Zales jewelry, including a set of diamond earrings and floral diamond rings. (See all the stars at the Met Gala here.)

And while Halle certainly made her mark during fashion’s biggest night—which is co-chaired this year by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Vogue’s Anna Wintour, while LeBron James served as the honorary co-chair—her 2025 Met Gala appearance was not her first.

In 2023, the Color Purple actress—who shares son Halo, 4 months, with ex DDG—attended the Karl Lagerfeld-themed event sporting a white-and-silver Gucci dress made of semi-sheer lace. She also wore a marine life-inspired ruffled cape in preparation for her then-unreleased Disney live action film.

“During a time like this, when the movie is coming out in a month, you kind of get in the mindset,” she told Vogueat the event. “Try to channel Ariel in every fashion choice that I have. This Met is kind of the kick of it all off.”

Two years before her aquatic style dress, Halle and her sister Chloe Bailey made their Met Gala debut wearing Rodarte. Halle wore a pink fringe bodysuit, while Chloe donned a flowing ivory cape gown for the “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” theme. Since that first appearance, the sisters have been vocal about what inspires their fashion choices.

“We’re learning that we should always be comfortable no matter what we wear,” Chloe told Harper’s Bazaar in a joint 2022 interview. “But sometimes, even I forget that and will be like, ‘I’ll just wear it for a few minutes if it’s cute.’”

She continued, “It’s also about taking risks and making mistakes, or even great decisions, sometimes.”

For her part, Halle agreed and added, “We’re just trying to embrace our skin from the inside out. As I get older, I’m becoming more comfortable in my body and learning to embrace it.”
