Travis Kelce’s Happy Gilmore 2 cameo is sure to be a scene-stealer.
Indeed, according to his costar Julie Bowen, the NFL pro’s appearance in the upcoming sports comedy will be one for the books—even if she has yet to see it herself.
“I did not act with him, so it’s gonna be a revelation to me as well,” she exclusively told E! News at Netflix’s Tudum event May 31. “But yes, I’m sure he can act.”
In fact, the Modern Family alum pointed out that Travis—who is dating Taylor Swift—has plenty of experience in front of the camera.
“He has to act all the time,” she reasoned. “When you’re that much in the public eye, he knows how to pull himself together.” (For more from the Tudum red carpet, tune into E! News tonight, June 2 at 11 p.m.)
Julie, who starred in the original 1996 comedy alongside Adam Sandler, went on to describe the 35-year-old as “a together dude” with “a great sense of humor.”
Besides Travis’ highly-anticipated acting turn, Julie is “super psyched” for the sequel’s release, admitting that she wasn’t sure at first if she’d be back to reprise her role as Virgina Venit.
“I’d heard it was happening but I hadn’t seen a script,” she explained, “so I thought, ‘I’m probably not in it. That’s OK.’”
But after making peace with her absence from the movie, Adam called her to make it clear her return was a no-brainer.
“I said, ‘If this is to tell me I’m not in it, don’t worry. I love you. Don’t even give it a second thought,’” she continued. “He was like, ‘No, you idiot!’”
Of course, she’s not the only OG star returning as Shooter McGavin himself, Christopher McDonald, is hitting the green once more.
“What a great production it was,” he gushed to E! News. “When they told me, I was so happy. I might have leaked it out a little too early, but hey, they forgave me, which is nice.”
