There’s nothing complicated about Alec Baldwin‘s support of Hilaria Baldwin.
The 30 Rock alum was in the audience with two of their seven kids during his wife’s Dancing With the Stars debut on the season 34 premiere, and Hilaria couldn’t be more thankful for their presence.
“I’m very grateful that my family is here and supporting me,” she exclusively told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi following the Sept. 16 premiere. “I think being a mom, your job is to support everybody else and often put yourself last. And I love that, I’m there and I’m as hardworking being a mom as I am dancing on the floor.”
“So I think that it’s just fun to go out there be like, ‘Oh you guys are supporting me doing this!'” the 41-year-old—who shares kids Carmen, 11, Rafael, 10 Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 4, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 2, with Alec—added. “It’s fun and we can all have a good time.”
The Baldwins star, who wore a sparkling lime green mini-dress adorned with feathers for her cha-cha to Jennifer Lopez‘s “Let’s Get Loud” with partner Gleb Savchenko, went on to explain that her kids aren’t used to seeing her in such ornate get-ups.
“I think they didn’t know what to [think],” Hilaria shared. “Yes, they loved it! And they’re also like…I mean, could you imagine? Like, a mom is wearing all these rhinestones? This is not my typical mom outfit.”
The Yoga Vida founder noted that she joined the season 34 cast “last minute,” which has just added to the whirlwind of doing such a demanding show as DWTS.
“I moved my whole family here, and I was like, ‘What am I doing?'” she recalled. “And I had to find a house. I signed the contract as I’m getting off the plane before bags, chasing my two year old, who was pushing our babies in her pretend little stroller.”
But, as Hilaria said, “I did it and I’m here and I’m happy.”
Leading up to the premiere, the former dancer—who had to stop after breaking her hip at the age of 25—also received a surprise visit from her husband during several rehearsals.
As Alec explained said in footage shown before Hilaria’s debut dance, “This was her life until she got insured. So she’s just going to give it everything she has. And I’m proud of her, very proud of her.”
During a second rehearsal, Alec entered the room and tapped Gleb’s shoulder asking to “cut in” before jokingly grabbing the pro instead of his wife.
As Hilaria quipped, “I think they hired the wrong Baldwin!”
