When it comes to his daughter watching Dawson’s Creek, Joshua Jackson is hoping she paces herself.
The 46-year-old—who shares Juno, 4,with estranged wife Jodie Turner-Smith—recently shared some insight into when he might allow his daughter to tune into the beloved teen drama.
“The thing is, she would have to be a teenager,” he told E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview at the March 27 GLAAD Media Awards. “But then I don’t need her to watch me being a teenager when she’s a teenager, because she’s going to get all sorts of ideas. So she’ll probably have to wait until she’s in college.”
It helps that for her part, Juno is currently disinterested in her dad’s star power.
“I don’t know that she really knows what famous is,” he joked. “She knows I do make believe for a living, and she is totally uninterested in what I do. Like completely.” (For more celeb interviews from the GLAAD Media Awards, watch E! News March 31.)
So instead of walking down his filmographic memory lane, these days Joshua is soaking up every moment of fatherhood.
“My God, at that age, every couple of days she’s a new kid,” the Dr. Odyssey star said of Juno. “Truly, the big milestone has been this entire year. She started school.”
He went on to note that, as what he called a “COVID kid,” it’s been fun to watch Juno get more “kid time.”
“She got a lot of parent time,” he explained. “And it has been so beautiful to watch her wings spread this year as she’s gotten to spend more time and be in school. The second day of school we’re driving in, I just hear her little voice in back. She says, ‘Daddy, I’m a school girl.’”
He gushed, “She’s so proud of herself.”
Jodie, for her part, also recently took on the role of proud parent as she bragged about her little one.
She’s just blossoming into such an intelligent, young, bossy, little one,” Jodie told E! News at Clarins’ ICONS Event March 21. “I mean, she’s been reading since she was three, so she already hit that milestone. I mean, she’s about to go to kindergarten. I mean, that’s a big milestone.”
The Queen & Slim actress—who parted ways from Joshua in 2023—continued, “I kind of want to cry, but I’m also very excited for her growing up, because I just need to get to hang out together more.”
