Rainey Qualley does not have to navigate motherhood alone.

When Andie MacDowell and ex Paul Qualley’s oldest daughter welcomed her first baby with partner Anthony Wilson last December, she had her mom and her sister Margaret Qualley to support her.

“They’re both just the best,” Rainey, 36, told E! News in an exclusive interview. “My sister flew in from New York right before I was due. I ended up having a really long labor—I was in labor for, like, 75 hours.”

“When I finally did give birth, she came to the hospital hours later and spent time with us there,” she continued of her younger sister, 30, who has been married to record producer Jack Antonoff since 2023. “I’ve gotten to go stay with her, and she’s gotten to spend a lot of time in L.A. too.”

As for the Four Weddings and a Funeral actress? Since she left the bright lights of Hollywood for a more relaxed life in South Carolina, Rainey shared that soon after baby Bluebell’s birth, “We went and spent some time with her, too.”

While she’s had her “very supportive family” to lean on, the “See Me Cry” singer has been balancing motherhood while continuing to pave her own path in music and acting. In fact, she recently starred in Off the Record—a film in which she plays a singer-songwriter named Astor Gray—allowing her to mix her two passions.

“It was really fun for me to have those worlds collide,” Rainey said of the film, which is available on digital and on demand, “and to be able to have the opportunity to bring my own music and help work on the soundtrack, and then to play an artist and explore this field that I’ve had so much personal experience in.”

After all, acting had become a family affair for her and Margaret, who followed in their mother’s footsteps and have come to bond over their separate auditions and projects.

“My sister and I will run lines together a lot and just help each other with scenes, help each other with self-tapes” Rainey explained, expressing how wonderful it is to have “someone that’s in the world and understands what you’re doing.”

Because even before she and Margaret began to book roles in Hollywood, they were putting on shows for their own family.

“My sister and I both danced a lot growing up,” Rainey recounted, “We didn’t watch a whole lot of TV or anything growing up, but whenever we did, if a commercial was on, she would just take the time to have the audience captivated and paying attention and put on improv dances. We would just make up little routines together.”
