Winter actually came for Sophie Turner in the fall of 2023. But she just put on her coat and crushed it.
While the breakdown of her four-year marriage to Joe Jonas came about “very suddenly,” as the Game of Thrones alum put it in a court filing, she didn’t waste much time before embarking on her healing era.
“2023 was the year of the girlies,” Turner captioned a Jan. 2 ode to the friends who were there before life took an unexpected turn and who lifted her up afterward. “2024s forecast is looking fairly consistent.”
When the Joan star said “bye bye” to 2024, however, her carousel of year-in-review photos still featured a bevy of female pals, but there was a new face in the crowd: Her boyfriend Peregrine Pearson.
So, it’s been a season of change for the mother of two, whose daughters Willa, 3, and Delphine, 2, who split time living in the U.S. with their dad and with Turner in the U.K.
And that arrangement has of course taken some getting used to for the British actress, who turned 29 on Feb. 21.
It’s “absolute agony” being away from them, she admitted to Harper’s Bazaar last fall, so she often stays with a friend to avoid being alone.
But having battled depression and anxiety in her life, becoming a mother has inspired her to push herself out of her comfort zone.
“I would isolate a lot,” she explained. “Now, I think I live my life for them. I want them to see me having a social life and enjoying work, and thriving in my career and relationships. I want them to see a hard-working mum.”
And that she’s been, though enjoying her leisure time has been imperative in the days since her marriage ended.
While Turner has a stalwart lineup of girlfriends to go skiing, rent chairs in Hyde Park and take selfies with, it didn’t go unnoticed that squad captain Taylor Swift stepped up in the weeks after Jonas filed for divorce on Sept. 5, 2023.
The pair went out to dinner together in New York multiple times—their rotating cast of supporting players included Selena Gomez, Blake Lively and Brittany Mahomes—while Turner was also among the VIPs who joined Swift at MetLife Stadium for that memorable game against the Jets.
At the time, however, the avowed 1989 fan was also in the middle of a custody dispute. She and Jonas temporarily resolved matters in October 2023, the exes stating the children would “spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the U.K,” and in January 2024 Turner dropped a lawsuit she had filed in the matter after they agreed on a plan moving forward.
(Turner’s lawyers filed to “reactivate” the proceedings in March, a move that Jonas’ rep called a “legal formality” while they continue to “negotiate an amicable resolution.”)
“I mean, those were the worst few days of my life,” Turner told British Vogue in May of the early post-split reports suggesting she was more interested in being a swingin’ single girl again than being present for her daughters.
She had two weeks to go on the U.K. set of the ITV series Joan while the kids were in the U.S., she recalled, and those articles “hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother—mum guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.'”
Yet aside from the occasional cryptic Instagram post and a few logistical details included in court documents, Turner and Jonas have generally put up a united front when it comes to keeping their post-split parenting world private.
While Turner was quick to publicly compliment Jonas on his birthday or Father’s Day, she’s easily the more reserved of the two. For instance, when Diplo—not realizing he was witnessing real nuptials, not least because they were in Las Vegas—livestreamed Turner and Jonas’ May 1, 2019 wedding, it was apparent that he did not get the bride’s permission first.
Though she was able to laugh about it eventually, Turner explained to Porter, “Marriage is a private thing between two people and I think that’s how it should always be. It’s not about the dress, it’s not about the food. It’s about being husband and wife, and being dedicated to each other forever.” (They still enlisted Diplo to DJ the reception they had the following month.)
Pandemic lockdown didn’t not suit her, either, Turner telling Conan O’Brien from home in 2020, “Everything seems to be working out in my favor here. Joe’s like a—he’s a real social butterfly. So, I struggle to kind of lock him down and have him just spend time with me. So, it’s kind of…it’s, like, prison for him, but it’s great for me.”
Still, they were making the most of it, Turner serving as Jonas’ bartender and stylist for his Instagram Live DJ sets. “There are no rules in quarantine,” she quipped.
When she and Jonas first announced that their marriage was ending, they called it a “united decision” despite the competing “speculative narratives” out there trying to explain what at the time was a shocking plot twist.
But while the “girlies” helped Turner through that rough patch, the Northampton native also happened to meet a boy last year.
Turner was first seen kissing Pearson, a property developer and descendent of British nobility (Dad’s a viscount), in Paris on Oct. 28, 2023—hours before the Louis Vuitton brand ambassador helped present the Rugby World Cup trophy at Stade de France—and they went Instagram-official that December when she posted snaps from a couples’ ski trip.
Like Turner, Pearson, 30, also re-entered the dating market in September 2023 after the reported end of his three-year relationship with Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark.
The two Houses only grew closer, making their public debut as a couple Feb. 10, 2024, at Stanley Zhu’s Year of Dragon Celebration at Dixie Queen in London, where Turner’s skirt and crop top by Naked Wardrobe did all the talking.
And the how-it-started-how-it’s-going energy remained strong, Pearson and Turner rocking out at Wembley Stadium when Swift’s Eras Tour came to London in June and joining the singer and her S.O. Travis Kelce for the after-party.
“Honestly, what my life looks like these days is what an Hugo Spritz tastes like,” Turner told Harper’s Bazaar last summer (mid-collab with St-Germain, hence the cocktail simile). “I’m kind of embracing this lighter, fresher kind of energy around me.”
As it turned out, the forecast for Turner’s 2024—sunny and warm, with a strong chance of Swift—was pretty sound.

Ready for a Comeback
Just weeks after Sophie Turner confirmed her split from Joe Jonas after four years of marriage in September 2023, the Game of Thrones alum shook her breakup off with a girls night out alongside pal Taylor Swift in New York City.
Divorce Drama
After the former couple filed for divorce, their legal battle became thorny, with the Do Revenge actress filing a lawsuit against the musician over their two kids Willa Jonas and Delphine Jonas to be returned to England. (Joe’s rep slammed the suit as “misleading.”) However, the pair reached a temporary agreement that October.
Moving On
Later that month, Sophie signaled that perhaps a new relationship was coming—and moved on to a new chapter in her personal life.
In fact, she began dating British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, with whom she was photographed engaging in PDA during a Paris trip.
Rearview Mirror
Ready to embrace a new year with a new lease on life, Sophie declared in January 2024 that the previous year was “the year of girlies,” adding that the forecast for the year ahead instead “is looking fairly consistent.”
Another Me
By spring 2024, the mom of two had left her drama with Joe behind.
“I’m unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children,” she told British Vogue in May 2024. “They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can. I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
Friendly Exes
In September 2024, Sophie and Joe finalized their divorce.
Joe later shared that he and Sophie have become friendly, developing a “beautiful co-parenting relationship” for their daughters.
“As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them,” the Jonas Brothers singer during a May 2025 appearance on Jay Shetty‘s On Purpose Live Tour in Hollywood, Fla. “Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true.”
