CeeLo Green will remember when he finally attended his prom—at age 50.
Indeed, The Voice alum celebrated the milestone at a surprise birthday party May 30 at Flourish Atlanta, which depicted both the high school dance and graduation ceremony that he never got the chance to attend.
The “Crazy” singer, who obtained his GED after ending his studies at Benjamin E. Mays High School in 1993, was presented at the bash with an official certificate of recognition from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and an honorary diploma from the Atlanta Board of Education.
“Now, in 2025, we honor his journey, accomplishments, and contributions to the arts and our community,” Board Chair Erika Mitchell said on Instagram, “by officially welcoming him into the Class of 2025!”
The party—presented by Primary Wave Music—also featured strawberry shortcake birthday cake and performances from his alma mater’s marching band, as well as artists such as Adi Oasis, Morris Day and the Time and JT Money, plus the guest of honor himself.
“CeeLo is one of the great lyricists of our time and one of the most recognizable voices in music,” Primary Wave CEO and Founder Larry Mestel shared. “Over the course of his illustrious career, he has been a genre-busting genius who has literally defied gravity. Primary Wave wishes CeeLo a very happy 50th birthday.”
CeeLo also celebrated his many milestone achievements on social media.
“Driver take me to #50 please?” he wrote on Instagram May 30. “I am meeting some friends there… but keep the car running ! #happybirthday.”
