Inside Machine Gun Kelly’s Unique Dad Life Since His Split From Megan Fox

Machine Gun Kelly is locked in.

Musically speaking, that is. The rapper made a surprise appearance along with his pal Travis Barker during Three 6 Mafia‘s April 11 set at Coachella, his first performance since welcoming a baby girl with ex-fiancée Megan Fox on March 27.

Days later, MGK shaved his growing-a-beard-till-he-finished-his-new-album facial hair and then, on April 20, he performed a half-hour solo set in Las Vegas that started at 1:45 a.m.

So, geographically speaking, MGK is out there once again, and way past his kids’ bedtime.

“This is my first night out of the house since I had my beautiful daughter,” MGK told a packed house at LIV Nightclub in the Fontainebleau hotel, where he hit the stage for Wrestlemania After Dark. (And that very well could be true: Coachella was a daytime slot.)

The artist born Colton Baker, who shared some videos from his Vegas appearance to his Instagram Story, looked to be in his element. “I love making beats live,” he captioned one clip, while in another he “took em back to 2012” with his rendition of “Wild Boy.”

Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly: Romance Rewind

The father of two—he shares 15-year-old daughter Casie with ex Emma Cannon—had been busy in recent weeks indulging his combative side, trading barbs with Fox’s ex-husband Brian Austin Green.

But he’s also been posting scenes from his domestic idyll, including the new chicken coop in his yard (because even celebrities don’t want to spend a fortune on supermarket eggs).

“Dad,” he captioned an April 8 carousel of photos that included a snap with Casie, another with Barker, a shot of the girl-dad-pink beverage tumbler he was holding while behind the wheel of his Rolls Royce and a selfie taken in a sparsely appointed walk-in closet.

“Welcome to the club again my brother,” Barker—a father of four, including 17-month-old son Rocky with wife Kourtney Kardashian—commented on MGK’s post.

Once Kardashian and Barker got together in 2021, they made for a loved-up foursome on occasional double dates with Fox and MGK, who were mostly on for the better part of four years before breaking up (for good, for now) in December.

MGK is at least tight as ever with Barker, the pair even collaborating on music that would be the first his newborn heard upon arrival. “We composed the score of the birth,” MGK shared afterward. “What an epic journey. Praise God.”

Two weeks after Fox’s Nov. 11 pregnancy announcement and 15 days before news of their breakup surfaced, MGK shared he had embarked on a different sort of journey to clear his head. The goal was to get his seventh studio album done, finally, after scrapping what he’d been working on for the second time.

“Isolating myself in the desert next week to restart this album from scratch,” he posted to X Nov. 25. “When inspiration flows through me unblocked, we will reach the destination in no time. don’t worry…After all, im about to be a dad again!”

MGK continued to lean into that spiritual life as he and Fox awaited the birth. On Feb. 3 he shared a photo showing his journal and a copy of Paulo Coelho‘s 1988 allegory TheAlchemist, which he was reading “for the 4th time.”

A couple weeks later, church was “right on time” for MGK, who shared a shot of the pulpit and a screen with the projected message: “Your past is not your purpose—your priority is ahead of you.”

But MGK is no stranger to self-reflection and doing the work.

“Mentally, for me, seven years ago I was on cocaine and any drug you could imagine. And that isn’t the case anymore,” he said on an August episode of Logan Paul‘s Impaulsive podcast. “So when you say, like, I come across [as] grounded, that’s a new revelation for me and a new version of myself I just met.”

By then, Fox had played his pregnant significant other in the music video for his song “Lonely Road,” and Paul asked MGK if she really was expecting.

“I like to leave a lot of stuff up to interpretation and there’s a reason behind every single thing that happened in that music video,” MGK said. “Some part of me is like, leave art up to interpretation, I guess that’s where I’ll leave it. But everything has a meaning.”

Seven months after that episode dropped, MGK announced his daughter’s arrival.

“She’s finally here!!” MGK captioned a March 27 video of their daughter’s teeny-tiny hand clutching his thumb. “our little celestial seed.” (Naturally, people then wondered if they had named her “Celestial Seed,” which he swiftly debunked, advising that Fox would share the baby’s name when she was ready.)

Meanwhile, the Transformers star has exercised her right to remain private in recent weeks, an April 18 trip to the grocery store with MGK in Calabasas, Calif., the first sighting of her since she gave birth.

Despite having no qualms about discussing her intense feelings for MGK during the earlier days of their relationship, Fox—who shared in 2023 that she had suffered a pregnancy loss with him—has since changed her approach.

Not least because explaining what was going on with them at every twist and turn along the way just got too complicated.

“I think that what I’ve learned from being in this relationship is that it’s not for public consumption,” she said on a March 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy. “So I think as of now, I don’t have a comment on, like, the status of the relationship. What I can say is, that is what I refer to as being my ‘twin soul,’ and there will always be a tether to him no matter what.”

That there will be, though her name is not Celestial Seed.
