Jenna Bush Hager has an especially heinous dream role.
In fact, the Today with Jenna & Friends host enthusiastically put her hat in the ring should Law & Order star Tony Goldwyn or creator Dick Wolf need an extra body on the hit NBC crime procedural.
“Well, if you’re looking for a dead person,” Jenna told Tony during the July 22 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends. “I’d play a dead person.”
To which Tony—who has been a regular on the procedural drama since 2024—quipped, “Can I give you some advice? You don’t want to.”
After all, the Scandal star and Jenna’s Oscar-winning cohost Octavia Spencer revealed they each have “been killed” onscreen and it’s not all it seems.
“You’re lying there for hours and people are working around you,” Tony explained. “And you’re ready to get up after 20 minutes and they say, ‘No you have 12 more hours laying on this slab.’”
And that was a no for Jenna, who noted, “That doesn’t sound good, never mind.”
Indeed, Jenna isn’t the only star who is dying for a chance to play cold. And Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’s Mariska Hargitay previously admitted she doesn’t understand why it’s such a coveted role.
“All the famous people, you know what they want?” she revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers in October. “To be a dead body. It’s so weird. This just happened to me with a supermodel. I found out that she loved my show. I went to the writers, and I said, ‘Can she be on the show?’ And she said she wanted to be a dead body. But then I said, ‘No no, we have this part for you.’”
“I call her back I said, ‘Listen we got it, we’re gonna get you on the show’” Mariska added. “‘And she says, ‘Oh no no no, I want to be a dead body.’ It happens all the time. Why don’t these famous people want lines?”
