Jennifer Lopez is getting loud about her thoughts on marriage.
Less than a year after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck, the “On the Floor” singer got candid about whether she would ever walk down the aisle for a fifth time.
“I think I’m done with that,” Jennifer told the crowd after reading out a sign with a proposal written on it during her July 16 concert in Bilbao, Spain, per a fan video shared on X. “I’ve tried that a few times.”
In addition to tying the knot with Ben, the 55-year-old was married to Ojani Noa from 1997-1998 and Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, as well as shares 17-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, who she divorced in 2014 following 10 years together.
But Jennifer’s objection to legal unions doesn’t necessarily mean she has any bad blood with Ben, who she filed for divorce from in August 2024 following two years of marriage. In fact, she previously provided insight into why they ultimately split.
“You have to be complete, if you want something that’s more complete,” Jennifer explained in an Interview magazine profile published in October 2024. “You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, ‘I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.’”
Noting that the experience taught her that “being in a relationship doesn’t define me,” the Hustlers star continued, “I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself.”
And her marriages have come with other silver linings as well. Most important of them all? Her kids. In fact, having Max and Emme by her side during her breakup from Ben wound up strengthening their bond as a family unit.
“I’m proud of myself for that,” Jennifer said in an interview with El Pais published May 2, “and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it.”
