Jessica Biel might be sweet as candy, but that doesn’t mean her onscreen work is kid appropriate.
The 43-year-old recently revealed that when it comes to her and Justin Timberlake’s sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, 4, they’re not old enough to be seeing her movies and TV shows quiet yet.
“My kids have seen nothing, I don’t think,” she revealed to E! News in an exclusive interview. “And if their friends are seeing my stuff, their parents should be fired. Because they shouldn’t be watching this stuff.”
For her The Better Sister costar Elizabeth Banks, however, seeing as her sons Felix, 14, and Magnus, 12—whom she shares with husband Max Handelman—Elizabeth says her filmography has made for awkward interactions.
“They’re a little older, it’s unfortunate because it’s all coming out now,” the Hunger Games alum said. “I recently got a text from a friend who said, ‘Just so you know, our son saw The 40-Year-Old Virgin.’ And I was like, ‘Okay. Got it. I understand what that means, and I will act accordingly around him.’” (For more with Elizabeth and Jessica, tune into E! News tonight, May 19 at 11 p.m.)
So while the two movie stars are happy to wait many years before their children tune into their projects, there is one body of work Elizabeth and Jessica love to watch: each other’s.
“I think I admired,” Jessica said to her costar, “the fact that legitimately you do everything. I mean writing, directing, producing, acting—I’m just a huge fan of people who can do that. And I think about wow, she’s got two boys at home and she’s directing as well.”
The 7th Heaven alum continued, “I just felt kind of starry eyed about what you’re able to do. You’re kind of like career goals for me.”
Meanwhile for Elizabeth, it was Jessica’s turn as Candy Montgomery in Candy that sealed the deal.
“When I saw the wig and the glasses in Candy,” the Pitch Perfect star revealed, “I was like, ‘This is a woman who is gonna go there in every way. There’s no fear here, she is underrated.’ Like people don’t understand how fierce she’s gonna be.”
So when it came to working with Jessica on The Better Sister, Elizabeth added, “Knowing that it was her, getting to be with her in this—I felt reassured. Like I have a great partner, who is going to go there.”
And a partner she needed, as the pair play sisters with a complicated history in the epic murder mystery.
“Basically, it’s a whodunnit,” Elizabeth explained. “There’s a dead body in the beginning and by the end you’re gonna know who done it. But there’s also this really intense family drama. It’s almost like Shakespearean or Greek tragedy. It really has the bigness of those kinds of things.”
