Prime Video’s forthcoming drama Bishop is adding John Malkovich to its cast.

The Emmy winner and two-time Oscar nominee will star with Joel Kinnaman in the series, which centers on a San Francisco detective (Kinnaman) tracking a serial killer. The show comes from co-creators Little Marvin (Prime Video’s Them) and Tony Saltzman (Them, Dexter: Resurrection).

The logline for Bishop reads, “Homicide detective Bishop Graves (Kinnaman) — brilliant, battle-scarred — will put all of his skills to the test in the hunt for an elusive killer targeting San Francisco’s moneyed class. As this increasingly audacious killer develops a devoted following among the city’s powerless, Bishop becomes convinced these murders connect back to SF’s most powerful man, his own father, Lincoln Graves (Malkovich).”

Malkovich is currently working on season two of Apple TV’s Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn. His recent roles also include A24’s horror movie Opus, Apple’s The New Look, a recurring role on Billions and Netflix’s comedy Space Force. He won an Emmy back in 1986 for CBS’ adaptation of Death of a Salesman and was nominated for Oscars for In the Line of Fire and Places in the Heart.

Little Marvin, who has an overall deal with Bishop producer Amazon MGM Studios, is the showrunner for the series. He and Saltzman are executive producing with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment.

Malkovich is repped by WME. Little Marvin is repped by WME, Blue Marble Management and Lichter Grossman. Saltzman is repped by Kaplan/Perrone and Yorn Levine. Lee and Yoon are with CAA.
