Justin Bieber knows to never say never when it comes to Hailey Bieber.
After the Rhode Beauty founder made her solo debut on the cover of Vogue’s Summer Issue, her husband expressed regret for “mean” comments he previously made during a “huge fight.”
“I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue,” Justin recalled on Instagram May 20 alongside the cover. “For some reason, because I felt so disrespected, I thought I gotta get even. I think as we mature we realize that we’re not helping anything by getting even.”
Reflecting on that conversation, he added, “We’re honestly just prolonging what we really want, which is intimacy and connection.”
The “Baby” singer shared an apology to his wife of six years, writing, “Baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn’t get a vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken.”
Despite ongoing rumors that their marriage is on the rocks, Hailey, 28, knows that the speculations are nothing more than fodder.
“It’s not real,” Hailey explained to Vogue of the unsolicited remarks in a May 20 interview. “And that’s the thing: I have a real life. My real life is that I get to wake up to my beautiful family and my son and my friends and I have people that know me and love me and I love them.”
“I feel like I’ve fought so hard to try to get people to understand me, or know who I am, or see me for me,” she admitted. “People just don’t want to sometimes and there’s nothing you can do about that.”
And she’s found more than just support in Justin, 31, with whom she shares 9-month-old son Jack Blues Bieber.
“I’ve learned so much from Justin,” Hailey reflected. “He’s been doing this literally since he was a child and he has had to face the most scrutiny of any person that I know. He was like, ‘Baby, trust me, I’ve been here before many, many times. You’re not going to win. There is no winning.'”
Although she tries to shut out the noise, she admitted that the incessant rumors can be “such a mindf–k.”
Now, as she navigates life in the spotlight postpartum, Hailey has been more focused on connecting with herself emotionally.
“I cry a lot more than I did before,” she explained, adding that she’s allowing herself to be more vulnerable “to feel what I’m feeling and be not okay, and be able to just really express that and feel safe with my friends to just be like, ‘I’m losing it today.'”
