Katy Perry Reacts to Fake Photos of Her at Met Gala 2025

Watch: Met Gala 2025: Katy Perry Reacts to Fake Photos of Her on the Red Carpet

Katy Perry is wide awake—and aware of her faux 2025 Met Gala red carpet moment.

The “Roar” singer reacted to AI-generated images of her making their way online for the second year in a row, and she had the best reaction to all the chatter. (For every celeb that did make it on the steps of the New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, head on over here.)

“Couldn’t make it to the MET,” Katy captioned her May 6 Instagram carousel, of which included the doctored images, as well as a few hilarious tweets about the photos, “I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL).”

Referring to last year’s instance of even her mom Mary Perry falling for AI-generated photos, she added, “P.s. this year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”

ICYMI, fans online were once again tricked into thinking the “Firework” singer had made her way to the May 5 event after photos of her sporting a form-fitting black latex dress and asymmetrical pinstripe blazer popped up online.

As one user—who Katy included her in post—noted, “Whoever does Katy Perry’s AI met gala fits eats every time.” Meanwhile another added, “If I had a nickel everytime an AI Katy Perry met gala look went viral, I would have two, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.”

Last year, Katy revealed she had to break the news to her mom that her jaw-dropping floral number wasn’t what it seemed.

“Didn’t know you went to the Met,” Mary texted her daughter, per a screenshot shared on her Instagram at the time. “What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose parade, you are your own float.”

Cut to Katy—who shares daughter Daisy, 4, with Orlando Bloom—bursting the bubble. “Mom,” Katy responded, “the AI got you, too. BEWARE!”
