Keith David’s Shocked Reaction to Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Is Truly Priceless

Keith David won’t say “nope” to this high honor. 

Indeed, the Spawn actor—who’s known for his impressive live action and voice acting roles over the last four decades—will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, and he shared his heartwarming reaction to the announcement on social media. 

“What a surprise!” Keith, 69, wrote on his July 2 Instagram video, which sees him dropping his jaw in shock once his name was announced. “Being blessed to get to do this for a living is enough for me; to be recognized for my contribution to the arts is the cherry on top. Thank you @hwdwalkoffame & @hollywoodchamberofcommerce for this honor.”

The Gargoyle star then thanked his wife Dionne Lea Williams, who also appeared in the sweet video, for being his “greatest supporter.” And true to his compliment, she happily shed a few tears and embraced him. 

“This will be a wonderful birthday present next year,” the Emmy-winning actor added of his 70th birthday. “#Classof2026.”

Keith isn’t the only star that’ll pose next to their own star in 2026. Indeed, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced 35 celebrities across five categories—motion pictures, television, live theater/live performance, recording and sports entertainment—will also be recognized, including Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore, Shaquille O’Neal and more.

As for Keith’s accomplishment, he received praise from his peers in the comments section.

Pose alum Dyllón Burnside described Keith’s reaction to the accomplishment as “such a beautiful moment,” while his Community costar Yvette Nicole wrote, “I am so happy for you! This is such a well-deserved honor!!!”

Lynn Whitfield, who played his onscreen wife in all five seasons of Greenleaf, also joined in on the love.

“Oh my God! You deserve every bit of it!” she wrote. “You are an artist. You are a gentleman. You are a journeyman. You are the best. You and your family are exemplary of what it’s all about! Love you and respect you so much!!!!!”
