Kimmel Clowns Kid Rock’s Alternate Halftime Show as a “Lip Sync Battle With Himself”

Like The Hollywood Reporter‘s Ethan Millman, Jimmy Kimmel watched the Turning Point USA alternative Super Bowl LX halftime show so you didn’t have to. And then he made fun of it so we could all laugh with Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) and at President Trump together.

“Most of the excitement last night came from the ads,” Kimmel said on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! of the especially bland Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. “It was maybe the weirdest year for Super Bowl commercials ever. There were like two beer commercials, the rest were for AI, Jesus and Mike Tyson telling you to eat apples.”

“My favorite commercial was the Dunkin’ ad,” Kimmel said, “because they didn’t invite Matt Damon to be in it.”

The (fake) feud, now in its third decade, remains very much alive.

Of course, the story of Super Bowl XL — sorry, world champion Seahawks, but it’s true — was Spanish-language rapper Bad Bunny’s Apple Music halftime show.

“Bad Bunny got a bad review from our bad president, unfortunately,” Kimmel said.

Getting a bad review from the rest of America was Kid Rock (real name Bob Ritchie) headlining the TP USA concert.

“This was not a good program,” Kimmel said. “It went off with a lot of hitches,” including what he called Kid Rock’s “lip sync battle with himself.” Jimmy Kimmel Live! rolled the video evidence of Rock’s lyrics not aligning to Ritchie’s mouth.

MAGA “complain(s) about how bad everything is, and then they do it worse,” Kimmel said.

And next year, Turning Point USA will be back to probably do it even worse-r, somehow.

We do not yet know who will be headlining the actual Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show — odds are it will be an artist who performs in English — but Kimmel has a suggestion for the outrage-cast.

“Next year it’ll be Lara Trump with a Ted Nugent cover band,” he quipped.

Jon Stewart had some fun with the moment as well — watch Monday’s Daily Show here.

“When did the right become such fucking pussies?” Stewart wondered. “Remember 2017? Remember what you hated about liberals? Perpetually offended, safe spaces, censoring free speech, culture of victimhood. Remind you of anyone?”
