‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Sing-Along Returning to Theaters Halloween Weekend

KPop Demon Hunters is returning to theaters, Netflix announced Wednesday.

KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along is slated to return to the three major movie chains – AMC, Regal and Cinemark – across the country this Halloween weekend. The sing-along film was last in theaters for a weekend in August, raking in an estimated $17 million to $18 million at the box office. It previously wasn’t released in AMC Theatres.

“Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service, and AMC Entertainment, the world’s largest theatre chain, have jointly decided to work together. This new cooperation will start this Halloween weekend,” a spokesperson for the theater chain said in a statement, noting it will play on approximately 400 screens from Oct. 31-Nov. 2. “While the two companies have not had a commercial relationship in recent years, both Netflix and AMC are intrigued by the mutually beneficial opportunities that could arise from this and future collaboration.”

The film will also screen in theaters across the world including Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Korea, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. Tickets for the showing go on sale at 6 a.m. pacific time on Oct. 17.

Netflix is now offering Demon Hunters merch, and an official Sprit Halloween costume line, for fans who want to dress up for their showings.

The animated feature has become Netflix’s most popular title ever. The project — which chronicles the adventures of Huntrix, a K-pop girl group comprising three members who just happen to also fight monsters from the underworld — has been a surprise hit for the streamer, and its soundtrack has spent several weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. THR broke the news that a sequel film is in talks at Netflix and Sony Animation.

The singers behind Huntrix – Ejae, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna – have been busy the last month. The trio have been taking their chart-topping song on the road for live performances on Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
