Lil Nas X is out from behind bars.
The “Industry Baby” rapper (born Montero Lamar Hill) was released from custody Aug. 25 after being arraigned by a judge in Los Angeles on charges stemming from a recent incident involving local authorities.
The 26-year-old exited Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys, Calif., wearing a blue inmate uniform and a pair of sandals as he made his way to a waiting SUV.
Earlier in the day, Lil Nas X was charged with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer, according to a news release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. The release also noted that he pled not guilty to the charges.
If convicted, the Grammy winner faces up to five years in state prison, per the release. He is due back in court Sept. 15 for a preliminary hearing in the case.
E! News has reached out to Lil Nas X’s reps for comment but has not heard back.
On Aug. 21, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a report of a “nude man walking in the street” on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, Calif., around 5:50 a.m. that morning.
While the LAPD did not name the man in question, he was identified as Lil Nas X in photo and video footage obtained by TMZ at the time. In the footage, Lil Nas X appeared to walk down a road wearing only a pair of white cowboy boots and white briefs, occasionally posing and making eye contact with the videographer.
“Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody,” the department said in a statement to E! News at the time. “He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for Battery on a Police Officer.”
