Home is where the heart is.
And that rings true for Meghan Markle, who shared a sweet glimpse of husband Prince Harry and their two children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. In the May 3 Instagram pic, Harry, 40, holds Archie’s hand as he walks through a garden surrounded by beautiful florals with Lilibet on his shoulders.
The caption-less pic appeared to be taken by Meghan, 43, who walked behind the trio. The sweet look at Harry as a dad came a day after the Duke of Sussex lost his latest appeal to dismiss the U.K. government’s prior decision to strip his security personnel. As a result, Harry and his family—who stepped away from royal duties in 2020—will not be provided security detail should they visit his home country of the U.K.
Following the decision, Harry revealed that due to that lack of security, he does not see a future where he travels to the U.K. from his home in Montecito, California, with his family.
“I can’t see a world where I would be bringing my wife and kids back to the U.K. at this point,” Harry, 40, told the BBC in an interview from California May 2, hours after the ruling. “And the things that they’re going to miss is well, everything. I love my country. I always have, despite what some people in that country have done.”
The Spare author—who has been estranged from his brother Prince William and father King Charles III in recent years—admitted that he is sad that Archie and Lilibet won’t be able to experience his country.
“I miss the U.K.,” Harry emphasized. “I miss parts of the U.K. of course I do. And I think that it’s quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”
Still, at home in California Harry and Meghan have created a life and safe space together in California that the As Ever founder can’t help but gush about, despite their differences with with his family.
“H, that man loves me so much,” Meghan said on an April 28 episode of the Jamie Kern Lima podcast, “and look what we’ve built. We’ve built a beautiful life, we have two healthy beautiful children.”
