Stella Banderas may not be a spy, but she’s definitely her parents’ kid.
Indeed, the 28-year-old daughter of Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas looked like a perfect mix of her mom and dad in a rare photo of her spending quality time with the matriarch at a recent event in Los Angeles.
In the photo shared to Instagram June 6, Melanie donned an all-black ensemble as she sat on a couch and lovingly gazed at Stella, who matched her mom’s all-black look. The pair were joined by a friend as they celebrated the opening of a film studio from Stella’s fiancé Alex Gruszynski.
“My beautiful daughter @stellabanderasgriffith and @sienaseverino and me celebrating the opening of @itsnova new photo/film studio in LA!” Melanie captioned the post. “It’s a gorgeous space.”
In response to the family outing, Stella’s dad Antonio commented, “Happy to see you all happy!!!”
Though the mother-daughter duo may not step out publicly together very often, Melanie—who is also mom to Alexander Bauer, 39, with ex-husband Steven Bauer, and Dakota Johnson, 35, with ex-husband Don Johnson—has made a habit of putting a spotlight on her daughter’s achievements.
In September, Melanie shared a Mercedes commercial that starred Stella and Antonio together, captioning the Instagram post, “Stella and her Papi!! I love this so much.”
And the month before, the Disaster Artist actress congratulated her daughter on her engagement.
“He asked…. On bended knee… she said yes,” Melanie wrote on Instagram in August. “Stella and Alex are engaged to be married. Their love story began in pre-school! True love, deep love! Congratulations to the beloveds!!!”
And the Oscar nominee isn’t the only one who has gushed about her and her youngest daughter’s strong bond. Stella has highlighted how much she values her relationship with her mom as well.
“She’s taught me the importance of creating a safe space for myself in order to find balance and feel grounded,” Stella told Vogue in 2021. “I think it’s through this authenticity that it becomes easier for creativity to be experienced.”
“She wasn’t the typical mother growing up,” she added. “We had a very open relationship where no topic was really off limits. This allowed me to build immense trust with her which in turn gave me the freedom to express myself without fear of judgment.”
