Doja Cat didn’t paint the town red this go around.
Though she didn’t opt for a crimson shade, the 29-year-old continued to prove her fashion prowess when she arrived at the 2025 Met Gala on May 5 wearing an eye-popping ensemble.
To match this year’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme and “Tailored for You” dress code, Doja donned astructuredpinstripe blazer embellished with a leopard-print corset motif. Doja completed the suit style with black tights—sans pants—and a fur cap, topped off with a bold red lip. (See all the stars at the red carpet here.)
And this isn’t her first rodeo. At last year’s Met Gala, Doja Cat arrived to the “Garden of Time”-themed event styled by Swiss clothier Vetements wearing a wet T-shirt dress that clung to her body. She accentuated the look by donning smeared silver mascara, creating the illusion that water had been thrown at her.
“I know that people were going to do flowers, so my flower of choice was the most-used flower and it’s cotton,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the New York City event. “So, I wanted to do a white T-shirt because a white T-shirt is timeless and felt very poetic, and I knew it wasn’t really going to blend in. I really don’t like to blend in.”
And not blending in is a special skill for Doja Cat, whose red carpet ‘fits have stood out at major events, including fashion week appearances and awards shows.
At the 2023 VMAs, the “Say So” singer left little to the imagination by wearing a revealing spider-web dress by Oscar De La Renta. In addition to freeing the nipple, she wore flesh-colored heels, nude underwear and sparkly jewelry that complemented her white eyeshadow and spider-like eyelashes.
In January 2023, the “Woman” singer donned one of her most notable fashion statements to date when she painted her entire body red and covered herself in over 30,000 crimson Swarovski crystals while wearing a matching red strapless dress and textured skirt to attend the Schiaparelli spring/summer 2023 show during Haute Couture Week.
A few months after the mesmerizing all-red look, the Grammy winner shared a peek into her style playbook.
“I am going in a darker direction when it comes to visuals and fashion,” Doja Cat explained to Harper’s Bazaar in 2023. “I have a lot of pent-up feelings and anger, and I want to express it with beauty.”
