Jaden Smith proved to be an icon of style at the 2025 Met Gala.

The Karate Kid star’s outfit was inspired by the official theme of this year’s event: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and comes in a close second to his eyebrow-raising Grammys red carpet moment from earlier this year. Jaden’s look included a simple all-black suit, complete with a plaid black and white cape and a black wire headpiece andNew Balance 1906L Croc Patent black loafers.

Jaden, 26, stepped out at the Vogue party, which was cochaired by Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky,Anna Wintourand LeBron James—though the NBA player could not attend—solo. (See all the celebrities at the 2025 Met Gala here.)

The unique hat was not a shock, as Jaden has been known for his eye-catching looks since he was a teen. At the 2017 Met Gala, he carried around a chunk of his own dreadlocks—an avant-garde concept complementing the dress code of “avant-garde black tie” for the event, themed “Art of the In-Between.”

In 2018, he swapped out his hair for a different accessory: his gold certification plaque for his song “Icon,” which he kept by his side. Along with his plaque, he wore a Louis Vuitton trench coat, white denim and chunky tennis shoes in honor of the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” theme.

And after a six-year hiatus, the rapper returned to the Met Gala in 2024 for his fourth appearance at the event. With this outfit, he worked to fit the dress code of “The Garden of Time” by donning an overcoat embroidered with white flowers designed by Thom Browne. The structured-look also featured a skirt.

At the time, he shared that he was “super duper excited” to attend the event once again.

“In the years that I’ve gone, it was pretty much my favorite event that I went to in that year,” he told GQ in an article published May 2024. “I’m excited to just see what’s going on and just have some fun.”
