No one does it better than Janelle Monáe.
After all, the “Make Me Feel” singer donned yet another jaw-dropping look for a Met Gala 2025 after-party, rocking a black and white suit coat and trousers, pairing it with just a red, white and black tie.
For the event at the Public Hotel, Janelle had a collar to support her tie as well as some pasties over her nipples to complete the topless look, and threw a flirtatious look to the camera as she showed it off in its full glory.
Of course, the 39-year-old also had quite the ensemble for the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art itself. Janelle wore a bold gown that had a print of a red, black and white suit, later revealing she was wearing the suit itself underneath. The singer accessorized with a bowler hat and a monocle, and her look was perfectly on the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme.
The “Tailored for You” dress code gave Janelle somewhat of an advantage. After all, the fashion icon previously shared that menswear is what got her into fashion in the first place.
“I couldn’t afford a lot of stuff, but I think it went from lots of menswear—whatever you would consider sports menswear: the tennis shoes, baggy clothes,” she told Variety in 2020. “Then I got into vintage shopping.”
And Janelle lived that experience last night.
“I’ve spent a great deal of my career —I’ve tried to at least— just redefining who you can be in a suit,” she told the New York Times. “I’m a very free-spirited person.”
And while Janelle’s 2025 look may be one of her best yet, she has constantly wowed on the Met steps, even sporting multiple looks for 2023’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” theme. That look also saw the “Oh Maker” singer strip as she took off several layers to reveal a sequined bikini on the red carpet.
