Shakira knows how to look good whenever, wherever.
And the 2025 Met Gala is no different. The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer dazzled on the red steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art May 5.
Shakira, in line with the evening’s dress code “Tailored for You,” arrived in a pink gown featuring a ruffled bow and billowing train. She completed her look with a stunning Pasquale Bruni teardrop necklace and mesh polka dot black gloves. Meanwhile, she styled her golden blonde locks in loose curls that draped over her neckline. (Check out more superfine celebs here.)
And it’s no coincidence the gown looked so radiant on her, as Shakira credited designer Prabal Gurung with tailoring the dress to her body.
“He’s an amazing designer who understands women’s bodies really well,” she told E!’s Zuri Hall on Live From E!: Met Gala 2025. “So this fit like a glove almost instantly, but we did have like three fittings.”
The Met Gala marked a break for the singer before she gets back on the road for her tour.
“The show is just so complete for me,” she explained. “All the energy I get it from the audience, really, it’s like, it’s almost a two and a half hour show, but people are just dancing and singing the whole time.”
She added, “So even if I’m tired, it just doesn’t matter. You can’t tell, because people are just the engine, giving me so much gasoline.”
While the 48-year-old has been booked and busy, she’s also been focused on her personal life. After all, she’s been navigating life as a single mom of sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, following her split from Gerard Piqué in 2022.
“I’ve grown a lot,” Shakira told Live From E!: Grammys in February. “I’ve learned a lot of lessons. Life hasn’t always been kind, but it’s been a good teacher.”
But not to worry because she’s not letting life get her down. As she put it, “The she wolf is still here.”
For Shakira, her hips don’t lie and neither do her lyrics. Indeed, she shared how she found strength through her music amid her ongoing healing journey.
“We all go through stuff in life,” she told Elle in 2022. “But in my case, I think that writing music is like going to the shrink, only cheaper. It just helps me process my emotions and make sense of them. It helps me to heal. I think it’s the best medicine, and along with the love of my family and my kids that sustains me, music and writing music is definitely one of those tools.”
“I feel like in this moment of my life, which is probably one of the most difficult, darkest hours of my life, music has brought light,” she continued. “I’m so thankful for my work, the possibility that it gives us to put ourselves back together and to realize who we are and why we’re here on this planet—what’s our purpose, our mission.”
As she put it, “I think you can find that reconstructive power in any kind of work.”
