Bubba Wallace‘s first year as a dad has been quite the ride.
Not only did the NASCAR driver recently win the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but his 10-month-old son Becks—who he shares with wife Amanda Wallace—is already turning out to be a “grown little man.”
“He’s super laid back,” Bubba exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amiker, explaining how he and Becks share a similar demeanor. “It takes a lot for him to get excited. He’s super chill.”
The 31-year-old continued, “It’s just been a lot of fun to see him grow up and enjoy the things that we are so accustomed to. He’s just kind of taking it all in.”
In fact, Bubba quipped that there’s been practically “no separation” from Becks since his arrival last September. As he put it, “I’m always thinking about racing, right? Not when it comes to raising Becks. It’s all about him.”
And with his baby boy teething and “eating everything,” Bubba said it “feels like every day is something new.”
“Being a dad has been the coolest thing, the best thing that’s happened for me in my life,” he gushed. “It allows the tough days not to be so tough.”
Bubba continued, “Life is not as bad as it seems when I have a bad race. I have a lot to be grateful for. Having a kid has really opened my eyes to just enjoying the moment.”
That’s why Bubba has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of America to unveil a limited-edition T-shirt collection with Carter’s, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the youth organization. As a father and a BGCA alum, he hopes to empower the new generation of members.
“Kids voices want to be heard, no matter how young or older they are,” Bubba shared. “It’s cool to see their ideas come to life.”
He added, “You’ve got to give a lot of credit back to the moments where I was the little kid listening to the guest speakers. It’s a full circle.”
