Disney Television Animation has named Zack Olin senior vp development and current series.
The studio, part of Disney Branded Television, is behind shows including Phineas and Ferb — which recently announced a third feature-length movie based on the beloved show — Big City Greens and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, among others. Olin will take charge of creative strategy on new projects and oversee the continuing work on ongoing shows, reporting to Disney Television Animation executive vp Meredith Roberts.
“Zack brings an exceptional creative sensibility and a deep understanding of how great stories are told and sustained over time,” said Roberts. “He has a strong track record of shaping bold storytelling, supporting creators and driving creative excellence, and he will be a key partner as we continue to deliver beloved animated series and movies for audiences around the world, now and for generations to come.”
Olin has spent the past year as an independent producer. Prior to that, he spent several years at Nickelodeon and Awesomeness, working on both live-action and animated titles including School Spirits, XO, Kitty and Monster High: The Movie. He also spent more than a decade at ABC and what was then ABC Studios after beginning his career at Fox.
“I’ve always been drawn to animation because of its scale, its heart, and the way it stays with audiences over time,” said Olin. “Getting to do that at Disney Television Animation and Disney Branded Television alongside Meredith, Ayo Davis, and some of the most extraordinary creators and animators in the industry is the kind of opportunity you work toward over a career.”
