Olivia Munn Addresses Aaron Rodgers’ Family Rift in Rare Relationship Comments

Watch:Olivia Munn Addresses Aaron Rodgers’ Family Dynamic in Rare Relationship Comments

Olivia Munn would like to be excluded from the Aaron Rodgers narrative.

The Your Fiends & Neighbors actress made rare comments about their relationship, which ended in 2017 after three years of dating.

“During the time that I was with him, he had three hail marys, I think two NFC championships—not wins—but he made it into the NFC championship, which is very hard,” Olivia said on the June 30 episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, noting she was often blamed for his foibles on the field. “No one would want to talk about that. I didn’t get credit for any of the wins.”

But that’s not all the 44-year-old, now married to John Mulaney, was blamed for during her time with Aaron: She was also put in the middle of the NFL player’s family rift, which included distance between him and his Bachelorette alum brother, Jordan Rodgers.

“There’s this whole big narrative that stayed with me for so many years, but there was just this dynamic in the family that had nothing to do with me,” she shared. “It became this whole big thing, and people were like, ‘I can’t believe her, she’s keeping this family apart.’”

As for what did cause the Rodgers’ family rift? As Olivia—who shares son Malcom, 3, and 9-month-old daughter Mei with John—sees it, that’s not for her to share with the world.

“People have speculated for many years what was the rift,” she said, “and I know, but I’m not saying because it’s not my story to tell.”

While Aaron prefers to keep his personal life private, he did confirm in a book about his life that Olivia had “nothing to do with all the years” of “deep rooted” estrangement from his family.

His decision to finally set the record straight was a relief for Olivia, even if some people still don’t want to believe it.

“Thank God somebody had read it and said, ‘Oh, wait! Aaron speaks,’” she said on the podcast. “You’ve been asking for the longest time. This is the constant conversation. The man himself is saying it. They don’t want that answer.”

“I was really grateful that he did that,” Olivia continued. “Even if people didn’t want to take hold of that statement, it made me feel good that it was said.”

Micala Drews

One of the early players in Aaron Rodgers‘ love life was his high school sweetheart Micala Drews.

The two dated while they were students at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Calif., sportswriter Ian O’Connor wrote in his 2024 book Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers

They bonded over sports. In fact, the author noted Micala, a volleyball player, and Aaron, on the football team, would do conditioning and weightlifting sessions together.

As for what the MVP was like back then? Micala described Aaron in the book as a “a funny slightly awkward kid.”

“However, he was a natural-born leader,” she added, “but not so much in words as he led by action and humble confidence.”

And long before he became the leader of the Pack, Micala supported Aaron in his dreams of playing professionally.

“Someday,” she told him, per the book, “people will refer to your home stadium as ‘Mister Rodgers’ Neighborhood.'”

Jessica Szohr

While Jessica Szohr starred on Gossip Girl, there was also gossip around her relationship status with Aaron after they were spotted hanging out in 2011 and again in early 2014.

Neither one confirmed or denied the romance rumors. But when asked in 2011 if she was cheering for the Green Bay Packers because of Aaron, Jessica told E!, “I’m rooting for the Packers because I’m from Green Bay!”

The actress is now married to hockey player Brad Richardson, becoming step-mom to his daughter Lexi and welcoming daughter Bowie together.

Destiny Newton

Most football fans know about Aaron’s Super Bowl ring, but did they also know about this engagement ring?

According to Out of the Darkness, the athlete “got serious” with Destiny Newton—”an attractive Chico woman whom he had known—and had a crush on—for years” in 2011. So much so, in fact, the book notes the two even got engaged.

However, Aaron and Destiny didn’t make it all the way to the end zone as Ian wrote the pair broke up in 2013.

Olivia Munn

The following year, Aaron began dating Olivia Munn, with them both serving as presenters at the 2014 ACM Awards.

And the story of how they met is a total touchdown.

“When I met him, I said, ‘So what do you do?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I play football.’ I go, ‘Cool, what college?'” the actress recalled to Conan O’Brien in 2015. “He’s like, ‘Oh no, I play professional.’ I go, ‘Cool, what position?’ He’s like, ‘Quarterback.’ ‘Cool.’ That was kind of it, not knowing he’s Super Bowl MVP or any of those things. All I saw was that he was really attractive. I didn’t really care what he did.”

Her unfamiliarity with the Packers’ roster didn’t fumble the chance of a romance, and Aaron and Olivia became a star-studded team.

“I’m real happy in my relationship,” he told ESPN Milwaukee, per Yahoo! Sports, before addressing the public attention around their relationship. “And I understand what comes with it.”

There was also attention around Aaron’s estrangement with his family—including his brothers Jordan and Luke and his parents Ed and Darla—and rumors of Olivia being caught in the middle of the feud. Both the X-Men: Apocalypse star and Super Bowl champ’s dad have shared their sides of the story. Meanwhile, Aaron revealed in Out of the Darkness that Olivia was not to blame for his family drama, noting she had “nothing to do with all the years before.”

The couple broke up in 2017 after three years of dating. Olivia is now married to John Mulaney, with whom she shares kids Malcolm andMéi.

Danica Patrick

While Aaron and Danica Patrick didn’t race off to start a relationship after meeting at the 2012 ESPY Awards, she still remembers the moment they met.

“I got his email address, and I remember thinking to myself back then like, ‘Oh, not a phone number. Just an email address,'” the racecar driver admitted on the The Jenny McCarthy Show in 2018. “We kept in touch just a little bit. There were some years I don’t think we talked to each other and then some every now and again.”

Of course, they did eventually get each other’s phone numbers and began dating after his breakup with Munn, confirming their romance in early 2018.

“We refer to each other as Chicago and Green Bay,” Danica added. “It’s very cute.”

But after two years of dating, the pair split in 2020. In fact, the NASCAR alum described that time as one of the most painful in her life.

“It was sudden, it felt like,” Danica said on a May 2025 episode of The Sage Steele Show. “It was my life. When you live with somebody, it’s your whole life. It’s your dentist appointment, it’s your hairdo, it’s your clothes, it’s your mailing address, it’s like everything. And because the nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive. So that wore me down to nothing.”

E! News reached out to Aaron for comment but did not hear back.

While Danica later formed other relationships—including with CarterComstock from 2021 to 2022—she confirmed on a June 2025 episode of the Believe in the Good podcast that she’s single.

Shailene Woodley

Aaron wasn’t telling any big little lies when he announced his engagement at the February 2021 NFL Honors, with him sharing the news days after E! News exclusively revealed he was dating ShaileneWoodley.

In fact, the actress noted they’d been together for quite some time.

“We got engaged a while ago,” she said on a February 2021 episode of The Tonight Show. “He’s, first off, just a wonderful, incredible human being, but I never thought I’d be engaged to somebody who threw balls for a living.”

Over the next year, fans got glimpses into Shailene and Aaron’s romance through photos of their vacations and dates, as well as through insights the couple shared about their relationship on social media. But in 2022, they went their separate ways.

“I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy,” she recalled to Outside in 2024 while looking back two years prior. “I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”

While she didn’t go into specifics, Shailene told the outlet she’d stayed in a “toxic situation” because she was empathizing with “someone else.”

And the Divergent alum noted it was hard for her to talk about her breakup with Aaron.

“I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry,” she added.  “It was not right. But it was beautiful.”

However, Shailene said bonjour to a new romance with Emily in ParisLucas Bravo, who confirmed their romance in the spring of 2025.

Mallory Edens

Social media users were wondering if Aaron was shooting his shot with Mallory Edens, daughter of Milwaukee Bucks owner Wes Edens, after he and Packers teammate Randall Cobb sat courtside with her at a game in April 2022.

Granted, Aaron had purchased an ownership stake in the Bucks back in 2018, and he and Mallory had sat next to each other at games in the past. Still, the two fueled speculation after they both posted photos from an Ed Sheeran concert in New Jersey in June 2023.

Neither Aaron nor Mallory publicly commented on the romance rumors.

Brittani

In 2024, Aaron revealed he had re-entered the dating game and found love with a woman named Brittani.

“Not Britney Spears,” he clarified on an episode of The Pat McAfee Show that December. “No, this is Brittani with an ‘i.'”

And while the Jets alum noted his girlfriend wasn’t on social media, he didn’t divulge too much else. However, he did acknowledge he was in love—telling the show’s hosts, “It’s a good feeling, boys.”

In April 2025, Aaron confirmed to Pat McAfee that he was in a “serious relationship.” So serious, apparently, he got married.

Aaron sparked wedding rumors after he was spotted with a ring on that finger both at the 2025 Kentucky Derby in May 2025 and at the signing of his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers the following month.

And at his first press conference with the team, he confirmed the accessory was indeed a wedding ring and that “it’s been a couple months” since he tied the knot—although, he did not confirm whether his wife is “Brittani with an ‘i.'”

However, perhaps there’s a reason Aaron is staying more tight-lipped about his love life. After all, he’s spoken about how he doesn’t enjoy living in the limelight.

“I didn’t do myself any favors with some of the girls I dated after that that were in the public eye,” he said in his 2024 Netflix docuseries Aaron Rodgers: Enigma. And when it came to all the attention, “I definitely hated it at first—like really despised it,” he added. “I enjoyed my private life. I enjoyed being able to go places. But from Super Bowl MVP, MVP, State Farm commercials, that got a little more difficult.”
