The David Fincher-directed follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood delivered a surprise during Super Bowl LX.
During football’s biggest night on Sunday, a teaser for the Netflix film, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, dropped during a commercial break during the first quarter of the game.
The new footage, which was about one minute in length, featured Brad Pitt back in his hit role as Cliff Booth. “I don’t possess many talents, but I know better than to get in the way of a good story,” his character says in the teaser.
While most of the film’s plot has been kept under wraps, it is expected to center on Cliff Booth, the former stuntman and body double to TV actor Rick Dalton, as seen in Tarantino’s 2019 film. The Adventures of Cliff Booth is also set in a later time period than Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The latter film earned Pitt his first acting Oscar, in the supporting category.
Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Timothy Olyphant, Scott Caan, Holt McCallany and Peter Weller are also set to star. A release date has yet to be announced, but the Super Bowl teaser said “Coming Soon.”
Though Taraninto wrote the script for the follow-up, he previously shared that one reason he didn’t want to helm Cliff Booth was because he didn’t want his 10th and final film to be a sequel.
“I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. It just kind of unenthused me,” the filmmaker said on The Church of Tarantino podcast in August 2025. “This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory.”
On Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots are battling it out inside Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, for Super Bowl LX to see which team takes home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Check out all the celebrities in attendance here.
