Cynthia Erivo is magical right down to her fingertips.
Indeed, the Wicked actress, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal as Elphaba in the Jon M. Chu film, gave the rundown of her latest extravagant nail set for the Oscars 2025 outside the Dolby Theatre.
“It takes a while and every time we do a carpet we do them over,” Cynthia, who previously shared that her nail appointments run up to five hours long, explained to Zuri Hall on the Live From E! The Oscars 2025 red carpet March 2. “This time we did a proper ode to Oz. The Emerald City, all the green and the gold and the guild.” (See every star on the red carpet here.)
The 38-year-old asked the camera to zoom in on her elaborate set, which included a clock encrusted on one finger, as well as a beautiful gold design on another, courtesy of Los Angeles-based nail tech Mycah Dior using OPI. And Cynthia gushed, “She made it by hand.”
“We knew this is the last one,” Cynthia added of film’s biggest night, “so we wanted to do something big and special.”
As she put it, “We try to go as hard as we can.”
Cynthia’s nail artist also couldn’t help but gush over the set, adding in her own Instagram Story March 2, “I think I truly outdone myself with this set.”
And Cynthia—who is nominated for Best Actress alongside Anora’s Mikey Madison, I’m Still Here’s Fernanda Torres, The Substance’s Demi Moore and Emilia Pérez’s Karla Sofía Gascón—didn’t just go big when it came to her nails, she also opted for a bold Louis Vuitton ballgown, which she described as a nod Oz, Elphaba’s green and old Hollywood.
“I always wanted a big dress for the Oscars if I made it here,” Cynthia gushed. “And here we are in this wonderful, giant big green dress. And I feel amazing in it.”
Of course, her look isn’t the only thing making Cynthia feel amazing. She previously gushed over receiving her Best Actress nomination for Wicked, which earned nine more nominations, including a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Ariana Grande and Best Picture.
“Moments like this don’t come along very often, and when they do, it is sacrilege to let them pass by without a moment of gratitude,” Cynthia gushed of her nomination on Instagram Jan. 23. “I am grateful, grateful to @theacademy, grateful to be a part of something that makes people feel seen, grateful to be a cog in the wheel of a piece that makes us believe in magic, grateful to have experienced a dream come true, and deeply deeply grateful for this unbelievable recognition.”
