Kamala Harris is kicking back on Oscars night.
Like many Americans across the country, the former Vice President and her husband Doug Emhoff caught the 2025 Academy Awards from home.
As seen in a photo shared by Emhoff March 2, the 60-year-old filled up a bowl of Doritos before watching Anora win the Best Picture prize at this year’s ceremony. (See all the Oscars arrivals here and click here for the complete list of winners.)
The former Second Gentleman wrote in the caption, “Oscars watch party prep.”
The casual night in comes just over a month into Harris’ new chapter, after she and former President Joe Biden finished their term and President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were inaugurated on Jan. 20. It also marks a rare appearance by a politician at the Oscars.
While former Vice President Al Gore attended the ceremony in 2007 on behalf of his documentary film An Inconvenient Truth—which won Best Documentary Featureand Best Original Song for Melissa Etheridge‘s “I Need to Wake Up”—it was President Franklin D. Roosevelt who was the first president to participate in the Academy Awards, giving a radio address during the 1941 broadcast from the White House.
But despite Harris not appearing, the Oscars—hosted by late night veteran Conan O’Brien—was still a star-studded event.
Ahead of the ceremony, the comedian shared some insight into what viewers could expected when he took to the stage.
“I will say this if you like close up magic tricks, you’ll be very happy with my Oscars performance,” O’Brien joked to ABC News last month. “I spent a lot of my own money polling Americans and saying, ‘Would you like to see Conan O’Brien sing and dance?’ Shocking response. People don’t want it, which means they’ll probably try and do it.”
As he quipped, “I like to be an irritant. Let’s just say there are many possibilities.”
Among those cheering on O’Brien from the audience are this year’s nominees, including Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore, Kieran Culkin and Zoe Saldaña.
